About the Role
This position sits within a collaborative, energetic, and inclusive design environment focused on developing sustainable product that delivers beyond customer expectations. You will partner closely with cross-functional teams to help ensure product style, fit, quality, and value align with the customer and the brand.
The role involves contributing to the early concepting of product lines and making sure designs reflect current market direction and brand strategy. A willingness to take creative risks and a strong curiosity about the customer are important in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Study global markets to spot emerging seasonal trends, new silhouettes, fabrics, techniques, product categories, and competitive ideas.
- Create concepts and sketches for the product line, then present design ideas to internal leaders and cross-functional partners.
- Build effective working relationships with Merchandising, Production, Technical Design, Gap Inc Sourcing (GIS), Visual Merchandising, and Marketing to support a smooth transition from concept to store and online execution.
- Work with Production and Technical Design to prepare tech packs and explain the intent behind fit and design, while helping ensure quality, execution, and margin goals are met.
- Communicate complex ideas in a clear and straightforward way.
- Contribute to projects and assignments that vary in scope and complexity.
- Create sketch callouts, share fit and aesthetic direction with technical design, and keep sketches and specifications updated, including trims, washes, and similar details.
What We’re Looking For
- Ability to thrive in a fast-moving, highly collaborative setting while managing multiple seasons and development timelines at the same time.
- Strong personal taste and an understanding of style, color, and how to interpret trends through the customer and brand lens.
- Solid knowledge of silhouette, fit, fabric, construction, color application, sewing methods, and trims, along with practical garment construction knowledge.
- Proficiency with Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Excel.
- Capability to analyze problems and present practical, creative recommendations in a logical way.

Compensation
The pay range for this role is $69,700 to $87,100 USD per year. Actual compensation depends on qualifications, experience, skill level, competencies, and work location. The company will pay at least the applicable minimum wage or the bottom of the stated range, whichever is higher, based on city, county, and state requirements.
