Role overview
This position sits within the Financial Risk Advisory – CFO Advisory group in KPMG Australia’s Consulting practice. The role focuses on helping clients navigate complex accounting, financial, and regulatory issues by shaping practical, compliant, and commercially sound solutions.
As an Associate Director, you will work with prominent clients across Australia alongside the national team in a collaborative environment. The role suits professionals with experience in a Big 4 firm or in an internal finance function who want to deepen their advisory, problem-solving, and commercial finance capability.
Key client engagements
- Strengthen financial controls and reporting control frameworks as finance functions undergo transformation.
- Build and roll out operating models that clarify accountability and ownership across the full organisation.
- Support clients in adopting AI within finance processes to improve decision-making and reporting efficiency.
- Establish strong data governance practices that improve trust in data and enable higher-quality reporting.
- Collaborate in cross-functional pre- and post-deal finance function set-up work, helping clients capture value and synergies from merger and acquisition activity.

Experience and background
- Relevant tertiary study, including CA qualification or an equivalent credential, together with experience in audit, assurance, consulting, professional services, or an industry finance role.
- Previous exposure to finance functions or leadership of large, complex finance initiatives.
- Solid knowledge of core finance processes, controls, and systems.
- Experience guiding teams, training others, and helping lift performance.
