Job description
Role overview
This opportunity is for a Canada-based Associate Director, Digital Media working for a partner employer. The hiring and interview process will be handled directly by that employer.
The role centers on shaping and running performance-focused digital media programs for growing restaurant and multi-location retail brands. You will guide cross-channel paid media work across Meta, Google, TikTok, Connected TV, and programmatic DSPs, with a strong emphasis on results, ongoing refinement, and measurable commercial outcomes. Along with strategic ownership, the position includes people leadership, as you will supervise media buyers and coordinate closely with clients and specialist teams. A key part of the job is turning complex performance information into practical recommendations and clear stories that influence campaign decisions. The work environment is quick-moving, collaborative, and heavily data-oriented, and it suits someone who is comfortable working independently, exploring new ideas, and continuously improving through testing.
Accountabilities
- Own the planning, launch, and optimization of integrated digital media campaigns spanning Meta Ads, Google Ads, TikTok, Connected TV, and programmatic DSP platforms.
- Supervise, coach, and support a team of 2 to 3 digital media buyers.
- Monitor campaign delivery across several clients, making sure tracking is accurate, budgets are paced correctly, and performance is improved at scale.
- Work in close partnership with clients, brand managers, analytics teams, creative teams, and media planners to execute connected campaigns.
- Convert campaign results into concise insights, strategic recommendations, and direction for both clients and internal teams.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations that use data storytelling to explain performance, impact, and growth opportunities.
- Refine media approaches continuously based on performance patterns and changes in platform capabilities.
- Keep campaign execution aligned with each client’s broader business goals.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of hands-on experience in digital media buying and performance marketing across Meta, Google Ads, and programmatic or CTV platforms such as DV360, The Trade Desk, or Basis.
- Background managing substantial digital budgets, typically $500K or more per month, across multiple brands or accounts.
- Strong working knowledge of tracking and measurement tools, including Google Tag Manager and conversion tracking setup.
- Experience creating dashboards and performance reporting in tools such as Google Data Studio or Looker Studio.
- Proven ability to manage, mentor, and develop media buying or performance marketing teams.
- Strong analytical capability with the ability to turn data into persuasive narratives and concrete action points.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, especially in client-facing situations.
- Self-directed and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, remote-friendly setup.
- Well-organized, with the ability to juggle several priorities and campaigns at the same time.
- Experience in restaurant, hospitality, or multi-location retail marketing is a plus.
Perks and benefits
- Competitive pay that reflects experience and leadership scope.
- Fully remote work arrangement with location flexibility.
- Chance to lead high-budget, high-impact digital media campaigns across major platforms.
- Leadership responsibility with direct influence over the growth and development of a media buying team.
- Exposure to varied, fast-growing clients in restaurant and multi-location retail segments.
- Collaborative, performance-led culture that encourages experimentation, learning, and innovation.
- High ownership with minimal bureaucracy and strong autonomy over results.
- Ongoing learning opportunities to deepen expertise in advanced media technologies and platforms.
