Job description
Role overview
Woking Community Mental Health Recovery Service is hiring a part-time Assistant Psychologist on a fixed-term basis for 12 months. This position is suited to someone with therapeutic experience in mental health services who works well with others and can contribute effectively in a multidisciplinary environment.
The service supports adults aged 18 and over who are living with complex, severe, and enduring mental health difficulties. Care is delivered by a multidisciplinary team that includes psychologists, nurses, and psychiatrists, with a strong recovery-focused approach.
The Assistant Psychologist will contribute to key clinical work such as CBT-based group delivery and low-intensity one-to-one psychological interventions. The role also supports the wider psychology pathway and helps ensure patients receive timely care.
The post holder will take part in multidisciplinary team meetings and locality psychology meetings, and will also have opportunities to connect with other Assistant Psychologists across the Trust.
Key responsibilities
- Support the delivery of professional psychological care for people using Woking CMHRS.
- Undertake comprehensive assessments and help plan, implement, and review psychological interventions under psychologist supervision across different settings.
- Co-facilitate psychology groups.
- Work alongside service users, carers, families, and staff to carry out the care plan developed by the psychologist.
- Respond promptly to crisis or safeguarding concerns, take immediate action to protect safety, and escalate to a senior colleague without delay.
Working requirements
Candidates must be able to work within mental health services and function as part of a multidisciplinary team. Subject to reasonable adjustments for disability, applicants must hold a valid driving licence and be able to drive, with unrestricted access to a car or motorcycle for work at all times, including community-based work.
