Job description
About the Role
This contract opportunity is for a backend engineer who will work remotely on tasks that involve using advanced AI coding agents to solve and assess complex engineering problems. The company connects top-tier technical and creative professionals with AI research teams.
The organization is headquartered in San Francisco and is backed by Benchmark, General Catalyst, Peter Thiel, Adam D'Angelo, Larry Summers, and Jack Dorsey.
Key Work
- Use cutting-edge AI coding tools to complete and judge challenging engineering assignments.
- Inspect code produced by models for correctness, maintainability, quality, and performance.
- Spot defects, unusual edge cases, and possible failure scenarios in generated outputs.
- Compare responses from multiple leading models and evaluate where each performs well or poorly.
- Use sound backend engineering judgment when working through realistic product and systems scenarios.
- Work autonomously and asynchronously while keeping pace with deadlines and contributing to better model performance.
What You Need
- At least 2 years of hands-on professional experience in backend engineering.
- Background in building APIs, distributed systems, microservices, backend platforms, or databases.
- Regular experience using AI coding assistants such as Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, Windsurf, Gemini CLI, or similar tools.
- Strong ability to review model-written code and identify bugs, edge cases, and design tradeoffs.
Preferred Background
- Experience working on large production-scale systems is a plus.
Compensation and Work Terms
Pay is set at $85 per hour. In addition, accepted tasks are compensated at $400 each. After the initial ramp-up, most tasks are expected to take about 1 to 3 hours to finish. There is no fixed cap on the number of tasks you can take on, and payment is based on work that is accepted.
Application Steps
The application is designed to take about 20 to 30 minutes and includes three steps: uploading a resume, completing an AI interview based on that resume, and submitting the form.

If you need help or have questions, contact [email protected]. Additional details about the interview flow and platform can be found in the provided documentation.
Important Notes
The team reviews applications every day, so candidates should complete both the AI interview and the remaining application steps to be considered.
