About the role
Carton House is seeking a Bartender to join its Food & Beverage team at its five-star resort in Maynooth, County Kildare. What you'll do
- Greet guests in a polished, welcoming way and deliver service that feels attentive and professional throughout.
- Mix and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks according to house recipes, presentation standards, and service processes.
- Build strong knowledge of cocktails, spirits, wines, beers, and other beverage options so you can confidently guide guest choices and suggestions.
- Highlight specials, house creations, and promotional offers to help drive sales and upsell effectively.
- Serve drinks quickly and accurately while maintaining the property's luxury service expectations.
- Observe guest satisfaction, stay ahead of needs, and respond to questions or requests in a prompt, courteous manner.
- Process cash, card, and billing transactions correctly and in line with company procedures.
- Keep the bar tidy, well-organized, and fully stocked while following hygiene, safety, and licensing rules.
- Support stock counts, inventory control, and restocking of bar supplies when needed.
- Coordinate with the wider Food & Beverage team to ensure smooth service and a consistently strong guest experience.
- Complete opening, closing, and cleaning tasks to the expected standard.
- Maintain a professional image and positive demeanor as a representative of the hotel.
What we're looking for
- Prior bartending experience gained in a luxury hotel or premium bar environment.
- Good working knowledge of classic and modern cocktails, top-shelf spirits, wines, beers, and soft drinks.
- A genuine passion for delivering excellent guest service and memorable hospitality.
- Strong verbal communication and people skills, with confidence engaging directly with guests.
- Ability to stay effective in a busy, fast-moving environment without losing service quality.
- Careful attention to detail and a consistent focus on presentation and standards.
- Solid cash-handling ability and experience with POS systems.
- Understanding of responsible alcohol service and licensing requirements.
- Comfort working both independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
- Strong organization skills to manage stock, cleanliness, and health and safety compliance.
