Role summary

The Beauty Advisor is responsible for delivering a standout experience to every guest. This includes identifying guest needs, handling checkout duties, keeping merchandise stocked, maintaining store presentation and cleanliness, and supporting additional store tasks as assigned. The role calls for strong interest in the beauty industry, excellent guest service, and the ability to learn and communicate product details confidently.

Key duties

• Help the store meet or exceed targets for retail sales, services, guest loyalty, credit, omni-channel sales, and shrink reduction.
• Create a welcoming shopping experience by greeting guests, tailoring service to individual needs, answering product and service questions, sharing promotions, and suggesting complementary items or services.
• Handle customer service issues, sales transactions, refunds, exchanges, and assistance with online orders in a professional manner.
• Perform makeup applications, skincare consultations, and product demonstrations to support selling and elevate the guest experience.
• Schedule appointments and help execute services and in-store events that contribute to sales and a memorable guest visit.
• Stay current on new and existing products and services, including ingredients and benefits, so guests receive informed recommendations.
• Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Support an inclusive workplace that respects teammates, peers, and all guests.
• Promote the loyalty program, including credit offers and the Ulta Beauty app, when appropriate.
• Work with managers and store associates to support business growth.
• Take part in ongoing training, including brand and category learning, to strengthen professional development and sales performance.
• Follow company policies, procedures, standards, and dress code requirements.
• Keep the assigned area stocked, labeled, faced, and equipped with testers to support sales.
• Maintain a clean and organized store, including the sales floor, restrooms, cashwrap, backroom, and break area.
• Assist with resets, planograms, marketing and advertising displays, inventory counts, and shipment processing/unloading using company systems and best practices.
• Protect company assets by following loss prevention practices and providing excellent service.
• Carry out other operational tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

A high school diploma is preferred. One year of relevant work experience, or an equivalent mix of education and relevant experience, is also preferred. The role requires a strong service mindset, selling ability, comfort with basic technology such as point-of-sale systems and Apple devices, and the ability to build customer relationships, solve problems, and work both independently and collaboratively.

Schedule and working conditions

This position requires a flexible schedule that may include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. The job involves continuous movement throughout the store, frequent standing, bending, pulling, pushing, reaching, and twisting, as well as regular lifting, carrying, and moving of items up to 25 lbs. The work also requires continuous coordination and handling of objects during the shift.
