Role Summary
The BIM Coordinator will manage coordination across architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other discipline models. The role involves ensuring model integrity, supporting BIM execution planning, maintaining quality standards, and helping project teams deliver coordinated design information on time.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate discipline models across architecture, structure, MEP, and other project teams.
- Review combined models to make sure all disciplines align correctly.
- Run clash detection in BIM coordination tools and produce clear issue reports.
- Work with discipline teams to close clashes and coordination gaps within agreed timelines.
- Check that models follow approved project requirements, BIM standards, and the required Level of Development.
- Maintain consistency in naming, file organization, work-sharing procedures, and data quality.
- Support model reviews before design submissions, authority submissions, tender documents, and IFC deliverables.
- Assist in preparing, reviewing, and updating the BIM Execution Plan for each project.
- Help define BIM workflows, coordination steps, file-sharing methods, responsibilities, and approval routes.
- Ensure the BIM Execution Plan matches the Employer’s Information Requirements, project scope, client expectations, and company procedures.
- Support model structure setup, naming rules, folder systems, model breakdown, Level of Development requirements, and Common Data Environment processes.
- Monitor adherence to the approved BIM Execution Plan throughout the project lifecycle.
- Recommend updates when project needs, deliverables, or coordination methods change.
- Carry out regular BIM audits and quality reviews.
- Check compliance with BIM standards, templates, and project-specific rules.
- Spot inconsistencies, duplicate content, missing information, and coordination risks.
- Prepare review comments and track corrective actions through closure.
- Help the design team deliver technically accurate and well-coordinated outputs.
- Maintain clash reports, issue registers, model review checklists, and BIM coordination trackers.
- Support BIM progress reporting for the Design Manager and other stakeholders.
- Keep records of model submissions, revisions, comments, and coordination decisions.
- Assist with BIM presentations, meeting packs, and technical reports.
- Attend BIM coordination meetings and prepare action lists when needed.
- Share BIM knowledge with architects, engineers, modelers, and other team members.
- Conduct internal training sessions, workshops, and hands-on demonstrations.
- Provide day-to-day technical support for BIM software and workflows.
- Mentor junior BIM coordinators and BIM modelers.
- Help develop internal BIM guidelines, templates, checklists, and standard procedures.
- Share lessons learned and suggest improvements to BIM processes.
- Support the Design Manager in tracking BIM deliverables and coordination progress.
- Coordinate with discipline leads to keep BIM activities aligned with the design schedule.
- Flag delays, unresolved clashes, and technical risks that could impact milestones.
- Assist with BIM deliverable schedules and resource planning.
- Liaise with consultants, subconsultants, contractors, and client representatives when required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Structural Engineering, MEP, or a closely related field.
- At least 8 years of experience as a BIM Coordinator.
- Strong background in BIM implementation, model coordination, clash detection, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
- Experience working in design consultancy, design-and-build, or large multidisciplinary projects.
- Exposure to tender, IFC, shop drawing, and as-built coordination stages is preferred.
- Practical experience coordinating architectural, structural, and MEP disciplines.
- Hands-on ability with Revit, Navisworks Manage, ACC or BIM 360, clash detection, coordination workflows, and model federation.
- Experience supporting or preparing a BIM Execution Plan.
- Familiarity with Dynamo, Solibri, Power BI, AutoCAD, COBie requirements, and ISO 19650 workflows is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of MIDP and TIDP is an advantage.
