About Trade
Trade is building a new way for people to discover and enjoy specialty coffee at home. The company operates the largest U.S. marketplace for exceptional independent roasters, combining deep coffee knowledge with personalized recommendations to help hundreds of thousands of customers find coffees they truly enjoy.
The platform offers access to more than 500 freshly roasted coffees from over 55 of the country’s top roasters, all delivered directly to customers. By making discovery simple and engaging, Trade is expanding specialty coffee to a wider audience while giving small independent roasters the ability to grow sustainably. The goal is to become a category-defining destination for people who care deeply about what they drink every day.
About the Role
Trade is looking for a thoughtful, systems-oriented Brand Designer to help define and evolve the company’s visual identity across important customer touchpoints.
Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, this role will influence how the brand appears across performance creative, lifecycle campaigns, product launches, editorial storytelling, and brand systems. The position calls for a balance of craft and speed, with a focus on creating scalable design frameworks that support growth while strengthening the brand. It is well suited to a designer who values typography, layout, storytelling, and consistency, and who wants to help build a brand people genuinely connect with.
Key Responsibilities
- Create high-impact campaign assets for paid media, email, direct mail, landing pages, organic social, and related channels.
- Develop and protect Trade’s visual identity so it stays consistent across digital and physical experiences.
- Work with the Senior Product Designer to build scalable brand systems, templates, and reusable component libraries.
- Partner with the Growth team to concept and produce performance-focused creative that remains aligned to the brand while driving conversions.
- Collaborate with editorial and content teams to visually support roaster stories and coffee discovery content.
- Design creative for brand campaigns, seasonal activations, product launches, and cultural initiatives.
- Maintain consistency in typography, color usage, imagery, and motion across all creative work.
- Present design work clearly and confidently to stakeholders across the organization, including leadership.
- Keep up with design trends, cultural shifts, and competitor creative to help Trade stay fresh and distinctive.
- Guide external contractors so that video assets and partner creative remain aligned with the Trade brand.
What You Bring
- Strong visual storytelling instincts, refined taste, and close attention to detail.
- A systems-first mindset that goes beyond individual assets and considers design at scale.
- Comfort working on both brand-building projects and fast-moving performance needs.
- Strong organization skills and the ability to manage several projects without compromising quality.
- A collaborative, low-ego approach and openness to feedback.
- Curiosity and a habit of continually improving creative quality.
Required Experience
- At least 4 years of experience in brand design, ideally with consumer or DTC brands.
- A portfolio that demonstrates campaign work, brand systems, and performance-oriented creative.
- Hands-on experience designing for paid media, email, landing pages, and web.
- Strong command of typography, layout, color systems, and visual hierarchy.
- Advanced proficiency with Figma and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Experience creating and maintaining design systems and reusable components.
- Solid understanding of how design influences growth, conversion, and customer experience.
- Strong communication skills and proven ability to work with cross-functional teams.
- Experience in a startup or other high-growth environment.
- Exposure to subscription businesses or marketplace brands is a plus.
How We Work
The team works from the Midtown Manhattan office three days per week, with everyone together in person from Tuesday through Thursday. In-person collaboration is central to the company’s operating style because it helps the team move quickly, solve problems in real time, and generate ideas through hands-on teamwork. This environment is best for people who value close collaboration while building something meaningful.
What We Offer
- Opportunity to help grow a profitable company that is guided by mission and values, alongside an experienced leadership team.
- Room to expand your skills and make a lasting contribution as the business scales.
- Ongoing mentorship and support from leaders and managers.
- Competitive pay and unlimited vacation.
- $500 per year to spend on coffee.
- Strong health coverage and a 401(k) plan.
- Twice-monthly catered lunches.
- A workplace that is pet-friendly.
- Two paid days each year for company-sponsored community service.
Compensation and Benefits
The NYC base salary for this role is $95,000 to $135,000 per year. Additional benefits include company-paid health, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k), a flexible spending account, and paid leave such as vacation time and parental leave, subject to applicable plans and policies.
