Role Summary
This position supports the Buying & Merchandising team by turning data into practical business insights, helping teams make informed decisions, and improving category performance across store and omni-channel channels. The role works closely with Buying, Merchandising, Supply Chain, Finance, Operations, and Technology teams to evaluate sales, margins, inventory, pricing, promotions, and customer patterns.
Key Responsibilities
- Study performance at category, brand, SKU, and store level to surface growth opportunities and business concerns.
- Monitor important retail measures such as sales, gross margin, stock rotation, inventory cover, sell-through, markdowns, and category profitability.
- Prepare regular business reviews and performance dashboards for leadership.
- Spot assortment gaps and recommend actions that improve category productivity.
- Support Buyers and Category Managers in assortment planning and category strategy execution.
- Assess pricing competitiveness, promotion impact, and market movement.
- Assist in new product launches by building business cases and tracking post-launch results.
- Review vendor and brand performance against defined KPIs.
- Track inventory health and identify excess stock, slow movers, and stock-out risks.
- Contribute to demand forecasting and replenishment planning using analytical insights.
- Coordinate with Supply Chain teams to strengthen product availability while managing inventory investment efficiently.
- Build and update dashboards and automated reports with BI tools.
- Improve reporting consistency and data quality across systems.
- Support process improvements through automation and analytics-based solutions.
- Work with Merchandising, Supply Chain, Finance, Store Operations, E-commerce, and Technology teams.
- Present findings and recommendations in a clear, concise, and action-oriented way.
- Assist leadership with ad hoc analysis and strategic projects.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Commerce, Business Administration, or a similar discipline is required. An MBA is preferred.
Experience
Applicants should have 2 to 5 years of experience in Business Analytics, Category Analytics, Merchandising Analytics, Retail Analytics, or Commercial Analytics. Experience in Retail, FMCG, E-commerce, Grocery, or Consumer businesses is preferred. Exposure to Buying, Merchandising, Category Management, or Supply Chain functions will be an added advantage.
Technical Skills
The role calls for advanced SQL, BI and visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker, strong dashboarding ability, analytical thinking, and familiarity with retail KPIs, merchandising metrics, large datasets, and ERP systems.
