Role overview
The Business Analyst will support the Financial Systems team by analyzing business needs, data, requirements, and processes to enhance financial systems and connected workflows. The role works closely with stakeholders to convert business needs into technical requirements, assist with process improvements, and contribute to work such as data migration, testing, audit support, and data quality efforts. The position helps keep financial systems, reporting, and processes effective, documented, and aligned with organizational needs.
Key responsibilities
- Review financial and technical data and present insights in a clear, structured, and high-quality way.
- Perform business, data, and process analysis to uncover requirements, gaps, issues, and improvement opportunities.
- Work with stakeholders to capture business needs and turn them into technical requirements for reporting, systems, and data solutions.
- Define reporting and data requirements that report developers and technical teams can use.
- Analyze, maintain, and enhance financial systems processes to improve efficiency, consistency, and support business goals.
- Investigate and help resolve process and data issues alongside business and technical partners.
- Review migration data to check quality, spot anomalies, and assist with issue resolution.
- Prepare and update documentation for reporting requirements, business requirements, process flows, and financial systems workflows.
- Support financial systems projects such as data warehouse migrations, QA testing, audit activities, and data integrity initiatives.
- Carry out ad hoc analysis for projects, audits, system enhancements, and decision support.
- Take on additional responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related discipline, preferably. The role requires at least 5 years of progressive experience in business analysis, data analysis, process analysis, or a similar field. Prior experience in Finance, telecommunications, or a related business setting for 3+ years is preferred. Experience supporting data migrations, reporting, testing, or financial systems projects is required.
Skills and competencies
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability, especially when working with financial and technical data.
- Solid understanding of business analysis, requirements gathering, process analysis, and process improvement.
- Experience writing business requirements, reporting needs, process documents, and workflow documentation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
- Background supporting large data migration programs involving business and IT partners.
- Ability to diagnose data and process issues and collaborate toward resolution.
- High attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy and quality.
- Effective communication and teamwork across cross-functional groups.
- Ability to manage priorities, work proactively, and operate in a fast-moving environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build productive relationships with business and technical stakeholders.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience creating requirements for Power BI reports and SQL data extracts.
- Exposure to financial systems or enterprise reporting environments.
- Familiarity with QA testing, audit support, or data integrity work.
Work environment
- The role is based in an office setting or a remote office environment and involves regular use of a computer and standard office equipment.
- Some extra working hours may be needed during projects, testing periods, audits, or system deadlines.
