Job description
About the organisation
Alpha Bank London describes itself as a purpose-led banking environment where people are valued for both their contribution and individuality. The culture is built around passion, humanity, and teamwork, with an emphasis on creating meaningful connections across a diverse workforce. The bank blends international reach with local expertise, offering a setting where employees can grow, collaborate, and make a real impact for clients, communities, and colleagues.
Role overview
This position is for a hands-on Business Analyst within the Financial Services Change team. The role is delivery-focused and combines business analysis with practical testing work to help ensure changes move into production safely and successfully. You will take ownership of analysis from start to finish, assess existing processes, manage workstreams through to launch, and stay closely involved in testing and delivery quality.
The role sits in a regulated UK banking context, so familiarity with UK regulatory expectations is important, especially within retail banking.
Key responsibilities
- Work with stakeholders to collect, refine, and rank business needs so delivery remains clear and realistic.
- Run discovery workshops and detailed working sessions to understand current processes, pain points, and expected outcomes.
- Translate needs into functional and non-functional requirements, while factoring in regulatory, security, and control needs.
- Question assumptions, remove uncertainty, and help teams make practical decisions.
- Review current-state workflows and help shape future-state solutions, including support for Target Operating Models.
- Partner with subject matter experts, technology teams, and external vendors to maintain traceability from requirements through implementation.
- Support system and user acceptance testing by defining scenarios, helping with defect triage, and contributing to sign-off decisions.
- Spot opportunities to improve processes and working methods, then recommend workable improvements.
- Assist with business readiness tasks such as communications, training, post-launch support, and benefits measurement.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels and build strong working relationships across the change lifecycle.
Requirements
- Experience delivering change in Financial Services, ideally banking, within a controlled and regulated environment.
- Working knowledge of FCA and PRA expectations, with a habit of producing day-to-day work that stands up to audit scrutiny.
- Strong understanding of UK retail banking products, especially current accounts and deposits; experience with debit cards and home lending is a plus.
- Solid business analysis capability, including workshop facilitation, probing the right questions, and creating clear documentation.
- Ability to prepare standard BA outputs such as BRDs, user stories, acceptance criteria, traceability matrices, As-Is/To-Be process maps, impact assessments, and training materials.
- Good grasp of end-to-end delivery in waterfall and/or agile settings, from initiation through build, test, release, and early life support.
- Comfort working with distributed technology teams across locations and time zones, staying involved through build to clarify requirements and resolve issues.
- Willingness to be hands-on with testing, including planning the approach, writing and executing SIT/UAT scripts, managing defects, and supporting sign-off.
- Understanding of testing discipline in regulated environments, including test planning, evidence capture, traceability, and quality controls.
- Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, Visio or Lucidchart, Figma, Excel, and basic SQL where useful.
- Analytical, organised, and pragmatic, with strong attention to quality and the ability to juggle competing priorities.
- Confident communicator and facilitator who can influence outcomes, run effective workshops, and take ownership through delivery.
- Degree in IT, Finance, Business, or a related discipline; BA certifications are desirable.
What you’ll need to succeed
The ideal candidate will bring strong financial services knowledge, a structured approach to analysis, and a willingness to stay close to delivery and testing. Comfort in a regulated setting and the ability to turn complex needs into practical, traceable outputs are essential.
About the working environment
This is a full-time, onsite role based in the City of London. The position is intended for someone ready to contribute directly to change delivery in a collaborative banking environment.
