Persistent Systems is seeking a seasoned Business Data Analyst to join its Pune team. This role suits someone with deep experience in analytics platforms, data warehousing, and business analysis, and who can partner closely with business leaders and technology teams to turn data into actionable insights and scalable solutions.

What you will do
- Investigate data quality concerns, including data lineage, validation controls, and source data issues.
- Clean, transform, and prepare datasets for analysis and reporting.
- Build reliable and scalable pipelines that support efficient data movement and processing.
- Work with business stakeholders to understand needs and convert them into technical solutions.
- Use advanced analytical methods, including machine learning and AI when appropriate.
- Create reports, dashboards, and business insights through visualization tools.
- Strengthen data reliability by implementing data quality frameworks and controls.
- Participate in Agile delivery practices and collaborate within Scrum or Kanban teams.
- Help improve data governance, operating processes, and control mechanisms.
What we are looking for
- Strong background in analytics platforms and reporting-focused data warehouses.
- Solid knowledge of data warehousing concepts and scalable data ingestion patterns.
- Practical Python experience for analysis and data profiling.
- Advanced SQL skills and hands-on exposure to tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
- Ability to translate business needs into technical specifications and user stories.
- Experience working in Agile environments such as Scrum or Kanban.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, business analysis, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Understanding of data modelling methods and related modelling tools.
- Working knowledge of data controls and governance frameworks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Domain exposure in Retail, Investment Banking, Correspondent Banking, or AML Transaction Monitoring.
- Certification in AWS, Databricks Lakehouse, or DBT Fundamentals is preferred.
- Background in risk, controls, and transformation initiatives.
- Ability to lead and mentor team members, assign work, and support their growth.
- Ownership mindset with a commitment to high-quality deliverables.
- Comfort collaborating across functions to deliver business outcomes.
- Capability to identify risks, raise issues early, and follow policies and procedures.
- Ability to shape decisions using data-backed insights.
- Awareness of organisational processes, products, and services.
- Educational background in computer science, data science, statistics, or a related field at bachelor’s or master’s level.
