Role Overview

The Business Data Analyst role sits within the Data & Intelligence business unit and is intended for a mid-senior professional. The position requires turning business needs into analytical outputs that help decision-makers act on data. The analyst works independently on end-to-end assignments, partners with both business and technical teams, and communicates findings in a way that supports strategic and operational decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Convert business questions and requirements into structured analytical work.
  • Work closely with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to understand goals, needs, and priorities.
  • Analyze complex datasets and translate them into actionable recommendations.
  • Build dashboards and reports that support business monitoring and decision-making.
  • Present insights clearly to management and other stakeholders, including senior leaders.
  • Independently manage analytical projects from intake through delivery.
  • Maintain clear documentation of methods, assumptions, and results for transparency and repeatability.

Technical and Analytical Requirements

  • Strong command of Excel, including pivot tables, advanced formulas, and scenario analysis.
  • Ability to query and manipulate data using SQL.
  • Experience creating visual dashboards in tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker.
  • Working knowledge of Python or R for exploratory analysis.
  • Understanding of relational databases, data structures, and data warehousing concepts.
  • Ability to use statistical techniques such as descriptive analysis, correlation, and regression.

  • Solid business understanding, including organizational processes, KPIs, and strategy.
  • Skill in gathering, clarifying, and refining business requirements.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to connect analysis to business outcomes.
