Role Summary
This is a full-time, on-site position in Kampala for a Business Development Officer. The role centers on spotting fresh business prospects, nurturing client partnerships, and helping drive revenue expansion in the oil and gas and construction sectors. The position requires close coordination with technical and finance teams to develop competitive proposals, support negotiation processes, and maintain strong customer service standards.
Key Duties
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities in relevant markets.
- Build, manage, and strengthen relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Research industry and market trends to support business decisions.
- Prepare proposals, presentations, and other client-facing materials.
- Coordinate and participate in client meetings and follow up on leads.
- Convert qualified prospects into contracts and business wins.
- Work with technical and finance teams to create bids and pricing inputs.
- Support contract discussions and negotiations.
- Deliver responsive and professional customer service throughout the sales cycle.
- Maintain accurate records of business development activities.
- Contribute to strategic planning and business growth initiatives.
- Represent the company at industry events and stakeholder engagements.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Strong capability in new business development, lead generation, opportunity evaluation, and pipeline management.
- Good analytical ability to assess market information, review project viability, and inform planning.
- Basic financial understanding, including budgeting, pricing, and simple financial analysis for bids and proposals.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for client interaction, proposal development, and internal coordination.
- Strong customer service orientation with the ability to manage expectations and sustain long-term relationships.
- A bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Experience in business development in oil and gas, construction, or another technical sector is an advantage.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, manage several assignments at once, and use common office and CRM tools.
