Job description

About Maxwood Furniture

Maxwood Furniture is a fast-expanding furniture business with a growing family of brands such as Max & Lily, Plank + Beam, and Maxtrix. Over the past two decades, the company has built a presence across multiple sales channels, including direct-to-consumer websites and third-party marketplaces. Its focus is on delivering an engaging shopping journey and helping customers turn their home décor ideas into reality with stylish, current product offerings.

Role Overview

The Business Intelligence Analyst will turn raw data into practical insights that help guide decisions across the business. This position works closely with Ecommerce, Marketing, Operations, Product Development, and Leadership to strengthen reporting, support data-led projects, and uncover ways to improve overall business results.

Beyond reporting and analysis, the role will also contribute to enhancing the company’s data environment through software improvements, internally developed data tools, and AI-based initiatives aimed at reducing manual work and speeding up analysis.

The preferred candidate is naturally curious, analytical, and comfortable with technology, with a strong interest in using data and automation to solve business problems.

Key Responsibilities

This role combines business intelligence, cross-functional collaboration, reporting ownership, and data innovation.

  • Track performance across the business using full-funnel KPIs, trend and seasonality analysis, and ad hoc reporting for capital needs, resource planning, channel forecasts, and strategic initiatives.
  • Review data from different functions to surface patterns, risks, and growth opportunities.
  • Translate findings into clear recommendations that support expansion and operational improvement.
  • Lead efforts to improve the software stack, create in-house data solutions, and apply AI-powered fixes to analytical bottlenecks.
  • Find opportunities to automate reports, simplify workflows, and make business data easier to access.
  • Help build analytics processes and infrastructure that can scale with the company.
  • Work with Channel Management, Product Development, Operations, Marketing, Inventory, and Leadership on data-driven initiatives.
  • Make sure reporting aligns with business goals and company priorities.
  • Share insights, recommendations, and performance updates with stakeholders across the organization.
  • Use the existing data setup to create, maintain, and improve reports and dashboards that support important business initiatives.
  • Develop and update standard operating procedures between the Analytics team and the departments that depend on its work.
  • Maintain accuracy, consistency, and reporting integrity across systems.
  • Follow company vision, values, standards, policies, operating instructions, and confidentiality requirements.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Business, Marketing, Finance, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
  • At least 2 years of experience in an analyst, business intelligence, analytics, or data-focused role.
  • Solid understanding of performance measurement and data-driven business strategy.
  • Hands-on experience with ecommerce platforms and analytics tools such as Shopify, GA4, or similar products.
  • Working knowledge of business intelligence and reporting tools such as Power BI, Looker, Tableau, or comparable platforms.
  • Strong quantitative thinking, analysis, and problem-solving ability.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage workload, prioritize tasks, and respond well to shifting business needs.
  • Capability to adapt quickly when priorities change.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in ecommerce or omnichannel retail.
  • Exposure to ecommerce marketplaces.
  • Experience with data automation, AI-related initiatives, or process optimization work.
  • Familiarity with SQL, data modeling, ETL workflows, or data warehouse concepts.

Core Competencies

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Self-driven and proactive in approach.
  • Creative and focused on solutions.
