Job description
Role overviewThe Buyer is responsible for managing procurement activities for an assigned set of materials and services. This role supports the sourcing approach, coordinates with suppliers and the internal organization on technical specifications and budget alignment, and builds practical knowledge within the discipline. It may also involve support responsibilities that require specialized or technical understanding in a broader functional area.ResponsibilitiesIssue purchase orders, monitor their progress, and stay on top of follow-ups.Coordinate with suppliers to ensure purchase orders are executed as planned.Track and address issues, including schedule adjustments and related procurement problems.Maintain accurate updates in the ERP system.Use business knowledge gained through education or prior experience to support day-to-day work.Understand how the team’s work contributes to the wider function.Resolve routine problems using established procedures and escalate exceptions when needed.Work with colleagues to solve issues effectively.In customer-facing situations, build strong working relationships and act as the communication link between the customer and GE.Exchange technical details clearly, ask clarifying questions, and confirm understanding.Carry out basic data-entry tasks with careful checking and correction.RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical, Electrical, or EEE, from an accredited university or college.At least 4 years of experience in a related job family or functional area.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Ability to document work, plan activities, support market-facing tasks, and execute assigned programs.Additional informationRelocation assistance is available for this role.
