Role overview

This is a full-time direct-hire Buyer position based in Platteville, Colorado 80651. The role supports a growing supply chain function and focuses on procurement, sourcing, and supplier management to keep materials, supplies, and services flowing smoothly for the business. This position reports to the Sourcing Manager.

The compensation package includes a base salary of $60,000 to $70,000 per year, and the role is eligible for an annual bonus of 5%.

What you will do

  • Arrange the purchase of materials, supplies, equipment, and services in line with business needs.
  • Assess, onboard, and maintain supplier relationships using quality, cost, service, and delivery standards.
  • Request, compare, and evaluate vendor quotes, bids, and proposals.
  • Work with suppliers to secure pricing, terms, and supply agreements that improve value and control spending.
  • Prepare, track, and maintain purchase orders so deliveries arrive on schedule.
  • Keep supplier files, purchasing records, and procurement data accurate and current.
  • Coordinate with operations, production, inventory, and supply chain teams to align purchasing with priorities.
  • Follow up on supplier performance issues related to delivery, quality, or service.
  • Contribute to inventory planning and help ensure materials are available when needed.
  • Review purchasing patterns, spending data, and supplier performance results.
  • Look for opportunities to reduce costs, improve processes, and increase supply chain efficiency.
  • Follow company procurement policies and purchasing procedures.
  • Keep up with market movement, supplier changes, and industry developments.
  • Take on additional sourcing, procurement, and supply chain tasks as assigned.

What we are looking for

  • At least 2 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, sourcing, inventory management, or supply chain work.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems, purchasing tools, or procurement software.
  • Strong ability to manage vendors and negotiate effectively.
  • Good analytical thinking, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work across departments.
  • Comfort with handling several priorities in a fast-moving environment.
  • A bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or a related area is preferred.
  • Experience in manufacturing, food production, agriculture, or similar industries is preferred.
  • Exposure to inventory planning, forecasting, or supplier performance management is an added advantage.
  • Professional procurement credentials such as CPSM, CPM, or an equivalent certification are preferred.
  • Experience using e-procurement platforms and digital buying tools is preferred.
