Role Summary

The Captain/Master/Skipper will oversee vessel operations, passenger safety, crew management, navigation, and day-to-day compliance for assigned boats. The position requires strong marine operational control, attention to safety standards, and the ability to respond appropriately in routine and emergency situations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recognize guest needs in advance and resolve inquiries to a high level of guest satisfaction.
  • Assume full responsibility for the vessel, including the safety, security, and comfort of passengers and crew.
  • Lead the crew, monitor their performance, and support their training and development.
  • Oversee crew presentation, conduct, and uniform standards, including proper care of uniforms.
  • Ensure the vessel is prepared and thoroughly cleaned before departure.
  • Navigate the boat safely and handle it in accordance with best marine practices.
  • Send distress alerts and request shore assistance whenever necessary.
  • Respond to emergencies and carry out duties as required in such situations.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the vessel’s interior and exterior at all times.
  • Manage logbooks carefully and verify that all entries are complete and accurate.
  • Ensure manifests are displayed for every departure.
  • Follow the approved passage plan and explain any deviation from it.
  • Escalate unsafe acts and near misses to management.
  • Keep the boat bunkered with fresh water and fuel, and manage black water discharge appropriately.
  • Follow safe bunkering procedures.
  • Enforce safety rules, including the no-smoking rule and environmental protection requirements.
  • Report defects or concerns related to the vessel, navigation systems, engines, and other equipment to the Port Captain for escalation to the technical manager and Guest Fleet Operations Manager.
  • Handle passenger concerns in a professional and effective manner.
  • Ensure passenger luggage and cargo are properly secured and stored.
  • Maintain mooring ropes and berthing equipment in good condition.
  • Perform departure checks and inform operations if any equipment is defective.
  • Report to the Coast Guard and other relevant authorities when needed.
  • Safeguard all vessel certificates and manuals, including the registration card.
  • Report any crew shortage or absence.
  • Conduct a daily operational briefing for the crew before the shift begins.
  • Verify that the fire panel is functioning correctly.
  • Ensure all fire-fighting and lifesaving appliances are in proper working order.
  • Pass all operational details to the next skipper and Port Captain at the end of the shift.
  • Work across more than three vessel types in the fleet, including IPS-driven vessels.
  • Take part in crew training sessions when required, in coordination with the training officer.
  • Participate in dry-docking transfers and related procedures.
  • Handle emergency sailings in heavy weather only when confirmed by the Marine Operations Manager.

Requirements

  • Valid Master 500 certification.
  • Current STCW certification.
  • Valid radio license.
  • Valid medical fitness certificate confirming fitness to work at sea.
  • Two to five years of relevant experience in the same field.
  • Strong English communication skills.
  • Good technical ability.
  • Professional, pleasant personality.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks at the same time.

Additional Information

This role requires direct responsibility for vessel safety, operational readiness, emergency response, and crew discipline. The successful candidate must be comfortable handling multiple vessel types and coordinating closely with marine operations leadership, technical teams, and port authorities when needed.
