Job description
Role Overview
Delta Centre CLG is seeking a Care Assistant to support learners in a person-centred, respectful, and empowering environment in Carlow, County Carlow, Ireland.
Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for ensuring that each learner’s day-to-day experience aligns with Delta Centre’s values, care plans, and individual supports. The role focuses on dignity, respect, choice, participation, and personal growth.
- Provide day-to-day care that upholds dignity, respect, and individual choice.
- Support learners to contribute, learn, and participate meaningfully in their environment.
- Show empathy and build a strong understanding of each learner’s needs and preferences.
- Pay close attention to behavioural cues and follow behaviour support plans when required.
- Work patiently and consistently with each learner.
- Apply the details of care plans and person-centred plans in daily practice.
- Regularly review and follow all care protocols for every learner assigned to you.
- Use appropriate communication methods to understand and support learner needs.
- Help each person progress toward greater independence, communication, and personal development.
- Build trusting relationships through dependable and consistent care.
- Follow Delta Centre’s policies, procedures, employee handbook, and working practices.
- Comply with relevant national requirements, including HIQA standards, HSE policies, and safeguarding policies.
- Promote and support involvement in the wider community.
- Help learners identify future goals, current support needs, and how these can be addressed, ensuring this information is recorded.
- Support person-centred processes that aim for the best outcomes while respecting each learner’s rights and preferences.
- Encourage independence, initiative, and respect for each learner’s age and status.
Requirements
- At least a FETAC Level 5 qualification in a relevant discipline.
- Previous experience working with challenging behaviour.
