About the Role
Goodwill of Western New York is seeking a Career Coach in Buffalo, NY. This position is ideal for someone who has built experience leading teams, training staff, or supervising people and wants to use that background to help others succeed in the workforce.
The role focuses on guiding participants toward stronger job readiness, greater confidence, and clear career direction while reinforcing the expectations needed to thrive in a workplace environment.
Compensation
The annual pay range for this position is $43,000 to $50,000, with final compensation determined by relevant experience.
What You Will Be Doing
You will coach participants using practical, real-world workplace standards and help them understand expectations around attendance, communication, productivity, and teamwork. You will also support learning experiences, prepare individuals for employment, and connect them with resources that can remove barriers to success.
Key Duties
- Coach participants as they strengthen job readiness, confidence, and career planning.
- Turn workplace expectations such as attendance, communication, productivity, and teamwork into clear feedback and coaching steps.
- Run orientations, training sessions, and cohort-based learning activities.
- Oversee participants during on-site learning or work-based experiences while providing direction, structure, and accountability.
- Support candidates with resume development, job applications, mock interviews, and workplace professionalism.
- Help individuals move into jobs successfully by reinforcing performance standards and ongoing engagement.
- Recognize employment barriers and connect participants to support services such as transportation, childcare, housing, or mental health resources.
What We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate will bring experience in training, coaching, or employee onboarding, along with strong communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities. Comfort leading groups, setting expectations, and balancing support with accountability is important. Familiarity with Microsoft Office, databases, or CRM tools is also expected.
A valid New York State driver’s license and willingness to operate a company vehicle are required. Experience supporting underserved communities or working in workforce development is helpful, but it is not mandatory. Transferable leadership experience will be valued.
