Role overview

Equans is hiring a Caretaker for Ken Stimpson School on Staniland Way in Peterborough (PE4 6JY). This is a permanent, full-time position with a 40-hour working week.

The role offers a salary of £28,851 per year and includes a benefits package.

Working pattern

  • Monday to Friday shifts rotate between 07:00–16:00 and 13:00–22:00.
  • Alternative weekly rota: Week 1 is 06:00–15:00 and Week 2 is 10:30–19:30.
  • An on-call rota applies roughly once every three weeks.

What the role involves

You will play a key part in keeping the school environment safe, secure, and well maintained for staff, students, and visitors.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact on site for facilities-related requests.
  • Carry out assigned tasks to agreed deadlines.
  • Support day-to-day building operations, including opening, locking up, and site security.
  • Deal quickly with maintenance faults and urgent situations.
  • Keep the premises clean, safe, and orderly.
  • Develop positive working relationships with staff, clients, and contractors.
  • Oversee site movement, including car park activity and visitor entry.
  • Receive deliveries and move equipment when required.
  • Help uphold cleaning standards and escalate any concerns.
  • Work in line with health and safety rules and company procedures.
  • Operate both independently and collaboratively across multiple sites.
