Role overview

This opportunity is with a global growth advisory business that helps founders overcome growth bottlenecks by bringing strategy, technology, and talent together in one team. The client is a fast-scaling Australian company based in Sydney, with a global workforce of more than 250 people and plans to multiply revenue over the next few years.

To support the next stage of expansion, the business is looking for a Chief Operating Officer to work directly with the Founder and CEO. The role is designed for a strong operating leader who can turn complexity into structure, keep teams aligned, and build the operating engine needed for sustained scale without slowing momentum.

Reporting to the Founder and CEO, you will act as the executive team’s second-in-command and take responsibility for daily business operations, freeing the CEO to concentrate on growth, capital markets, strategic partnerships, and expansion. This is a high-impact leadership role in a founder-led environment with real momentum.

What you will lead

• End-to-end ownership of the annual operating plan, budget, and overall cost base
• Coordination across spot FX, proprietary trading, and digital assets business lines
• Creation and rollout of governance models, reporting systems, and operating rhythms suited to a fast-moving, regulated financial services setting
• Development of leadership capability and organisational effectiveness across a high-performing team
• Building the operational base needed to support significant and sustained revenue growth
• Launching and scaling a new digital assets business unit from inception
• Driving execution discipline, accountability, and operational consistency across the company

About you

You are a commercially focused operator who pairs strategic judgment with practical execution. You have led teams or businesses through rapid growth, change, or complexity, and you know how to create the structure needed for scale.

You are comfortable working in ambiguity, making hard calls, and influencing senior stakeholders. Most importantly, you are a trusted advisor to founders and chief executives: someone who can challenge thinking, add perspective, and improve decision-making.

Likely background and strengths

• Experience running major operational functions or full business units
• Strong financial and commercial judgement, including ownership of P&L outcomes
• A history of strengthening governance, process, and leadership capability
• Exposure to multiple business units or complex operating environments
• Ability to move between strategic planning and hands-on delivery
