Role Summary
The Chief Operating Officer will serve in a full-time, on-site leadership role in the Portland, Oregon metropolitan area. This position is accountable for guiding daily operations while keeping the organization aligned with its broader strategic direction. The COO will direct operational teams, streamline processes, and apply best-practice methods to raise efficiency, quality, and scalability. The role works closely with executive leadership on business planning, financial outcomes, risk oversight, and resource distribution. It also involves setting operating plans, tracking key performance indicators, managing budgets, backing cross-functional priorities, and promoting a culture of continuous improvement and ownership. In addition, the COO will coach leaders, develop strong internal and external relationships, and contribute to the organization’s long-term strategy and growth.
Key Requirements
- Strong capability in business planning and strategic leadership, with hands-on experience creating and carrying out detailed operating plans.
- Solid operations management expertise, including improving processes, scaling organizations, and coordinating work across functions.
- Advanced analytical ability to assess data, define KPIs, and use evidence to guide decisions.
- Sound financial and budgeting experience, including responsibility for P&L, forecasting, and allocating resources effectively.
- Substantial executive leadership background, ideally in a COO or comparable senior operations position.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and stakeholder management skills at all organizational levels.
- Proven experience leading change, strengthening continuous improvement, and building high-performing, inclusive teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Operations Management, or a related discipline; an MBA or similar advanced qualification is preferred.
