Job description
Role overview
This full-time executive leadership opportunity is based in Narooma, New South Wales, with regular travel required across the service area, including weekly visits to Batemans Bay and Bega. The organisation may provide a fleet vehicle for travel between sites. The role is primarily site-based, with only limited work-from-home flexibility depending on operational needs.
You will be supporting Katungul Aboriginal Corporation, an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation, in a senior leadership position focused on operational performance, culturally safe service delivery, and better outcomes for Aboriginal communities across the Far South Coast of NSW.
The position is suited to a values-led leader who can operate confidently in a complex environment, combine strategic thinking with day-to-day execution, and lead with integrity, empathy, and emotional intelligence.
Key duties
- Lead organisational operations at a strategic and practical level across the business.
- Contribute to the delivery of the strategic plan and broader organisational priorities.
- Oversee service delivery, operational performance, compliance, and risk controls.
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and other financial oversight responsibilities.
- Drive process improvement, systems enhancement, and performance reporting initiatives.
- Support, coach, and guide managers and teams working across multiple locations.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with community members, government bodies, and partner organisations.
- Help foster a workplace that is positive, culturally safe, trauma-informed, and high performing.
Candidate profile
The ideal applicant will bring substantial senior leadership experience, preferably gained in health, community services, or an Aboriginal Community Controlled environment. You should be comfortable managing complex services and leading change while maintaining a strong focus on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
You will need to demonstrate sound business judgement, strong financial acumen, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. A solid understanding of Aboriginal health, community priorities, governance, compliance, funding obligations, and operational risk management is also important.
Essential requirements
- This is an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identified role.
- Tertiary study in business, management, or a closely related field is required.
- A current driver licence is needed.
- A valid Working with Children Check is required.
- NSW Police Check clearance is required.
Compensation and benefits
The salary range is $185,000 to $200,000 plus superannuation and salary packaging. Relocation assistance of up to $5,000 is available, along with up to 6 weeks’ rent support where applicable.
This role offers the chance to contribute meaningfully to a respected Aboriginal organisation within a supportive, purpose-driven executive team.
