Overview

Minor Hotels is an international hotel owner, operator, and investor with a portfolio of more than 530 properties across 50+ countries in Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Africa, the Indian Ocean, Europe, and South America. Its brands include Anantara, Avani, Elewana, Oaks, NH Hotels, NH Collection, nhow, and TIVOLI.

The role is based at Banana Island Resort Doha by Anantara in Doha, Qatar. The organization is looking for an experienced and well-organized Chief Steward to lead stewarding operations and keep all kitchen and food service areas clean, hygienic, and fully compliant. The position also involves managing staff, equipment, and inventory to help the hotel run efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the stewarding team and supervise day-to-day activities.
  • Keep kitchens, dishwashing areas, storage areas, and other back-of-house spaces clean and sanitary.
  • Maintain hygiene practices in line with hotel standards and health requirements.
  • Manage dishwashing processes and the correct use of kitchen tools and equipment.
  • Track stock levels for cleaning materials, chemicals, and stewarding tools.
  • Organize waste disposal and recycling activities.
  • Prepare work schedules and allocate duties to stewarding staff.
  • Provide training on cleaning methods, safety procedures, and hygiene protocols.
  • Assist banquet and restaurant teams during busy periods and events.
  • Ensure kitchen equipment is stored properly and kept in good condition.
  • Perform routine inspections to confirm operational standards are being met.
  • Work closely with chefs and F&B teams to keep service running smoothly.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Chief Steward or Stewarding Supervisor in a hotel or similar hospitality setting.
  • Solid understanding of sanitation, hygiene, and workplace safety standards.
  • Strong ability to lead teams and manage people effectively.
  • Comfortable working in a busy, high-pressure environment.
  • Good communication and organizational abilities.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Familiarity with HACCP standards is an added advantage.
  • High school completion or an equivalent qualification.
  • Hospitality-related certification is beneficial.
  • About 3 to 5 years of stewarding experience is preferred.
