The Opportunity
TechInsights is transforming into an AI-enabled intelligence company, and the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) is central to this evolution. Reporting to the CEO and serving as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, the CTO will spearhead the company's technology strategy and oversee the engineering organization, encompassing AI Engineering, AI Policy & Governance, Reverse Engineering R&D, and IT Support. This role requires a leader who can blend visionary thinking with disciplined execution, translating corporate strategy into robust engineering capabilities, aligning technology investments with business outcomes, and representing TechInsights to stakeholders.
The CTO will safeguard and enhance TechInsights' competitive advantage, built on proprietary semiconductor intelligence, reverse engineering data, market analysis, and advanced analytics. This involves driving engineering excellence, developing the platform, and fostering AI-driven innovation, with a focus on agentic AI systems, cloud-native platforms, and applied machine learning within the demanding semiconductor industry.
The ideal candidate will establish enterprise-wide engineering standards, cultivate a high-performance technology culture, and collaborate with Product, Sales, Operations, and Security & AI Governance leaders to prioritize technology investments that align with strategic objectives. What You’ll Do
Technology Strategy and Executive Leadership
- Define and manage the overarching technology strategy, ensuring alignment with corporate goals, product vision, and revenue targets.
- Contribute as a core member of the Executive Leadership Team, providing technological insights for company-wide decisions and representing TechInsights to external parties.
- Lead technology investment planning across AI, machine learning, cloud infrastructure, and data platforms, balancing strategic growth with profitability.
- Embody and promote the company's core priorities: Speed, Custody, Repeatability, Productivity, and Wellness.
Platform, Engineering, and Innovation
- Direct AI Engineering, Reverse Engineering R&D, and IT Support, establishing high standards for quality and technical excellence.
- Spearhead the applied AI and R&D initiatives, overseeing the development and deployment of machine learning, generative AI, large language models, vector databases, semantic search, and domain-specific AI models.
- Make strategic build-buy-partner decisions for advanced engineering capabilities and support M&A activities with technical due diligence.
- Collaborate with Product and Commercial teams to synchronize engineering efforts with product roadmaps and market launch plans.
- Partner with Security & AI Governance to ensure engineering operations adhere to cybersecurity, data governance, and AI threat management protocols.
Organizational Leadership and Operational Excellence
- Lead the technology organization, taking full responsibility for its structure, team performance, and culture.
- Foster a high-performance engineering culture that attracts, develops, and retains top talent, supported by clear career paths and leadership development.
- Manage the engineering budget, develop annual forecasts, and present investment proposals to executive leadership and the board.
- Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as delivery speed, platform stability, and AI adoption rates.
- Oversee AI Policy & Governance, establishing guidelines for autonomous AI agent operations within TechInsights.
What You’ll Bring
Experience and Qualifications
- A minimum of 15 years in progressive technology leadership roles, including at least five years in a senior executive capacity (e.g., SVP Engineering, CTO).
- Proven track record of scaling engineering teams and technology platforms within data-intensive, B2B, or SaaS environments.
- Extensive expertise in cloud infrastructure, data architecture, platform engineering, and modern software development methodologies.
- Experience managing and developing high-performing, geographically dispersed engineering teams.
- Hands-on experience with AI/ML platforms, large-scale data products, or content intelligence systems.
- Experience supporting technology through mergers and acquisitions, including technical due diligence and integration processes.
- Familiarity with the semiconductor, EDA, materials science, or technology intelligence sectors is highly advantageous.
- Exposure to export control regulations, intellectual property protection, or compliance in a technology or research context.
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

Working Arrangement
This position can be based on-site at our offices in Ottawa, San Jose, Denver, or Washington, DC, or remotely within Canada, the USA, or the UK. Travel up to 25% may be necessary for engaging with customers, partners, and global engineering teams.
