The City of Norcross, Georgia is looking for a forward-thinking municipal leader to serve as City Manager. This role is centered on guiding daily government operations, supporting the elected leadership team, and ensuring that city policies, ordinances, and laws are carried out effectively. About Norcross

Norcross is a historic city in Gwinnett County with a population of 18,902. Established in 1869, it began as a summer retreat for Atlantans and has since grown into a significant economic center with regional and international reach. Its location and transportation access continue to make it attractive to businesses, workers, and residents. The city operates 12 departments and manages its own public power utilities as part of the Municipal Electric Authority of Georgia (MEAG). It is also recognized as a Platinum Certified Green Community by the Atlanta Regional Commission.

Role Purpose

The City Manager serves as the chief administrator for the City of Norcross government. In this position, you will help carry out the city’s mission and values while ensuring public services remain efficient, dependable, and responsive to residents. You will work closely with the mayor, five-member city council, and department heads to provide strategic and operational leadership across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the city’s day-to-day administrative operations and keep essential functions running smoothly.
  • Ensure local ordinances, laws, and policy decisions are implemented consistently and appropriately.
  • Guide and supervise all city departments.
  • Support staff in delivering high-quality service and fostering positive working relationships.
  • Make operational decisions that help maintain effective daily city services.
  • Coordinate the full range of municipal activities across departments.
  • Lead the preparation and development of the annual operating budget and capital budget.
  • Partner with the mayor and council to provide leadership, alignment, and strategic direction for the community.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Political Science, Law, Engineering, or a closely related discipline; a master’s degree is preferred.
  • Five to seven years of executive-level municipal leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated strength in leadership, economic development, strategic planning, board relations, and team building.

Compensation and Benefits

The position offers a salary range of $215,000 to $235,000, depending on qualifications and experience. Benefits include retirement coverage, paid leave, and support for professional development.
