Role summary

The City Reporter position is a full-time, on-site opportunity in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh. The reporter will track local developments, community events, civic issues, public services, and breaking stories. The job involves generating story ideas, speaking with sources, checking facts carefully, and writing clear news pieces within deadlines. The role also includes attending press briefings, public gatherings, and field events to collect information firsthand. In some cases, the reporter may also create supporting visual or social content, such as photos, short videos, or updates for online platforms. Responsibilities

Requirements

• Solid reporting ability, including interviewing, fact-checking, and sourcing from varied stakeholders.
• Strong writing skills with the ability to present information clearly and tell a story well.
• Good verbal and written communication for professional interaction with sources, colleagues, and the public.
• Basic multimedia capability, including photo, video, or audio capture, along with familiarity with digital publishing tools.
• Ability to work on-site in Bilaspur, handle several assignments at once, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-moving newsroom.
• Understanding of journalism ethics, basic media law, and inclusive, impartial reporting practices.
• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Media Studies, or a similar field, or equivalent experience.
