Civil Design Engineer

An established engineering team in Nelson is seeking a Civil Design Engineer to contribute to a range of meaningful projects. What you will do

• Complete design assignments on schedule and within budget while meeting client expectations.
• Support and coach junior members of the design team.
• Keep team members, managers, and clients updated through clear, proactive communication.
• Work with a small team across the full design process, from concept development to detailed design, procurement, and construction support.
• Continuously build technical capability, improve design processes, and explore new tools and technologies.
• Use strong communication, presentation, networking, and consulting abilities in day-to-day work.
• Help maintain client relationships that can lead to repeat work.

About you

You are a collaborative problem-solver who enjoys contributing to significant multidisciplinary projects. You bring a practical mindset, a willingness to learn, and a genuine interest in developing yourself and others.

• A qualification in Civil Engineering and four to six years of relevant design experience in consulting or construction.
• Background working on infrastructure projects in water, energy, and/or transport.
• Hands-on experience in general civil site design, stormwater design, and/or road and transport design is essential.
• A positive, can-do approach and comfort working in teams.
• A strong desire to learn from others and grow your own capability while helping others develop.
• Self-motivation and initiative to deliver effective solutions for clients.
• While not mandatory, experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, OpenRoads Designer (ORD), or 12D will be advantageous.
• A good sense of humour will be appreciated in the team culture.
