About the Role
Southampton City Council is seeking a dedicated and conscientious Cleaner for a permanent position at Springwell School, a special educational needs school for children aged 4-11 with complex learning difficulties. This role is crucial in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors across both the main Thornhill site and the Wood Close satellite site in Sholing. The ideal candidate will be reliable, punctual, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively, taking pride in their attention to detail and commitment to high cleanliness standards. A proactive approach, good organizational skills, and flexibility are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the school premises are maintained to an exceptionally high standard of cleanliness.
- Perform a variety of cleaning tasks throughout the school.
- Operate cleaning machinery, such as vacuum cleaners and polishers, as needed.
- Contribute actively to maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all individuals within the school.
- Strictly adhere to all Health and Safety regulations and school requirements.
- Uphold the school's commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils.
About You
- Previous cleaning experience, particularly in a school or business setting, is preferred but not mandatory as full training will be provided.
- Must be energetic and physically capable of performing diverse cleaning duties.
- Possess excellent communication skills.
- Demonstrate enthusiasm, reliability, and resilience in the workplace.
- Ability to work effectively within a team, follow a schedule, and utilize initiative.
- Understand and uphold the importance of confidentiality and safeguarding principles.
- Exhibit flexibility to adapt to the evolving demands of the role.

Additional Information
The working hours are Monday to Friday, split into two shifts: 7:00 am to 9:00 am and 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm. Application forms should be completed and returned via email to Rachel Ambrey, HR Lead.
