Role overview
UNC Health is hiring a Clinical Research Associate to support oncology research activities in collaboration with the Clinical Research Nurse or Specialist, other research associates, and principal investigators. The role is part of a large healthcare organization focused on improving community health across North Carolina.
Key responsibilities
- Help maintain a safe working and patient-care environment for everyone involved.
- Support the recruitment, prescreening, and enrollment of study participants while working under the direction of a clinical research nurse.
- Collect signed informed consent forms and the required HIPAA authorization from participants before study entry, with supervision from a clinical research nurse.
- Record study information on case report forms, check data for completeness and accuracy, and help resolve data queries.
- Work according to SOPs for IRB initial submissions and continuing reviews; make sure IRB approval is in place before research begins and submit amendments or consent revisions before any protocol changes are implemented.
- Track investigational product inventory, including ordering, recordkeeping, and secure storage.
- Take part in sponsor audits and regulatory inspections of study documents and records.
- Join site initiation and study startup meetings.
- Support study financial administration, including correct registration, invoice processing, and maintenance of payment records.
Education and experience
A bachelor’s degree is required, ideally in a health-related discipline. Prior clinical research experience is preferred.
Skills and abilities
The role calls for strong reading and writing skills, clear verbal communication, basic math, and the ability to work with statistical reporting, trend analysis, data verification, data coding, and data interpretation. Sound reasoning and problem-solving skills are also important.
Employment details
This is a full-time onsite role based in Raleigh, North Carolina, with a 40-hour work week and day-shift schedule. The position is classified as non-exempt.
Compensation
The hiring range is $19.78 to $28.12 per hour, and offers are based on experience and internal equity.
