Job description
Position overview
This role reports to the CNC Supervisor and focuses on setting up, programming, running, and looking after CNC equipment so components are produced safely, efficiently, and in line with specification. The job also involves correctly reading engineering drawings, supporting lightly attended automated machining, monitoring production closely, making adjustments when needed, and working to required quality, housekeeping, and health and safety standards.
Key responsibilities
- Run CNC machines as part of daily production.
- Review task requirements and finished-product expectations by studying blueprints, mechanical drawings, and related documents.
- Prepare the materials and load parts onto the machines.
- Monitor machine operation and make adjustments to improve output quality.
- Measure and inspect completed parts against the required specifications.
- Perform routine daily checks and upkeep to keep equipment operating properly.
- Work toward competitive cycle times and production goals.
- Troubleshoot issues related to machines and manufacturing processes.
- Support continuous improvement activities wherever possible.
- Keep the supervisor and/or quality control team updated on any concerns.
- Maintain a tidy, uncluttered work environment.
- Follow all health and safety requirements at all times.
- Carry out other related duties assigned by the CNC Supervisor.
Qualifications
- Hands-on experience working as a CNC operator.
- Ability to operate CNC machinery, tooling, and precision measuring instruments.
- Comfortable reading and understanding mechanical drawings and technical documents.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Good mechanical understanding and solid numeracy skills.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on achieving results.
- Effective communication skills and a team-oriented approach.
- Fluency in English is required.
