Job description

Role overview

Kraft Heinz is hiring a permanent Commercial Analyst to join its New Zealand Sales team in Christchurch. This position is suited to someone who wants to build a career at the intersection of sales, finance, analytics, and commercial decision support. The role offers a flexible working setup with three days in the office and two days working remotely.

About the company

Kraft Heinz is a major global food and beverage business with eight brands that each generate more than $1 billion in annual sales. Its products are sold and produced across more than 40 countries, spanning categories such as sauces and condiments, cheese and dairy, meals, meats, refreshment beverages, coffee, infant and nutrition products, and many other grocery lines.

What the role involves

  • Maintain and refresh financial models tied to accounting cycles, including revenue recognition, gross-to-net waterfalls, and scenario or sensitivity analysis.
  • Build and maintain reporting and dashboard solutions using Power BI across sales, margin, supply chain, and digital or online performance.
  • Replace manual Excel reporting with scalable, governed Power BI reporting that includes documented metrics, automated refreshes, and quality checks.
  • Work through large transactional datasets to uncover pricing, revenue, and cost improvement opportunities, along with trends, risks, and growth areas.
  • Support margin analysis by mapping cost flows end to end and combining financial inputs to understand true margin and profitability by customer and channel.
  • Prepare ROI assessments, business cases, and commercial recommendations for decisions involving trading terms, trade spend, co-op activity, and scan investment trade-offs.
  • Gather stakeholder needs, document functional and non-functional requirements, and work with Finance and Technology/Data teams to turn those needs into solutions.
  • Contribute to ongoing improvement of reporting assets by defining KPIs, monitoring data quality and lineage, supporting UAT, keeping change logs, and removing redundant reports.
  • Use internal tools and analysis to support process improvements, adoption, and faster decision-making.
  • Partner with South Island Account and Field teams to build sales capability and account management fundamentals for longer-term career growth.
  • Carry out duties in line with company Food Safety, Environmental, Health and Safety, Ethical, and Human Resources policies and goals.

What you will bring

  • At least 3 years of experience as a Business Analyst or Commercial Analyst in complex organisations supporting Sales and Finance.
  • Experience in FMCG or retail environments is preferred.
  • A degree in Data, Finance, Business, Economics, or a similar field is ideal.
  • Proven ability to collect and document requirements, including both functional and non-functional needs, and translate technical capability into business value.
  • Strong commercial thinking with experience preparing business cases, ROI analysis, scenario analysis, and an understanding of trade spend.
  • Strong analytical capability with large, high-volume datasets and solid financial modelling skills.
  • Advanced reporting skills in Excel and Power BI, including migration of manual reports to scalable dashboards.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, plus exposure to ERP systems such as SAP and CRM tools such as Salesforce.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills when dealing with suppliers, customers, and internal teams.
  • Interest in moving into Sales and Account Management over the medium to long term.
  • Structured problem-solving skills and the confidence to challenge existing approaches constructively.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders effectively.

Benefits and work environment

  • Flexible hybrid working arrangement.
  • Volunteer leave and LiveWell leave options to support work-life balance and personal causes.
  • Recognition as a Great Place to Work in Australia and New Zealand.
  • Access to internal training programmes.
  • Collaborative and dynamic team environment with opportunities for internal growth.
