Position Summary
Homestead Land Holdings Limited is hiring a live-in Community Representative for an existing vacancy in Hamilton, Ontario. This is a full-time, site-based role that involves 40 hours per week and includes weekend shifts every second week. The compensation package ranges from $46,000 to $65,000 and includes salary, a taxable apartment benefit, and a shift premium.
Role Overview
This opportunity is best suited to someone who is proactive, organized, and comfortable working in a hands-on apartment community environment. The position is centered on maintenance and repair tasks, with additional cleaning support and office coverage as needed. The successful candidate will serve as a key contact for residents in the building and will spend much of the time completing work orders and small repairs.
Key Responsibilities
The role combines cleaning, maintenance, tenant support, administration, and safety duties. It also requires participation in an on-call rotation and working every other weekend.
Cleaning and Maintenance
- Keep shared spaces and hallways clean and presentable.
- Prepare apartments so they are ready for incoming residents.
- Handle work orders and carry out minor plumbing and electrical repairs.
- Complete other general grounds and upkeep tasks as required.
Tenant Relations and Administration
- Respond to tenant questions and issues quickly and professionally.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with residents.
- Show empty units to prospective tenants.
- Receive rent payments and keep accurate records.
- Deliver legal notices when necessary.
- Lease upcoming suites and finish the related paperwork.
Safety and Security
- Support the safety and security of residents at all times.
- Deal with emergencies in a calm and professional manner.
- Maintain fire safety records and winter log documentation.
General Duties
- Work according to an on-call schedule.
- Keep inventory and stock records accurate.
- Take on additional tasks assigned by the manager.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in property management is considered an advantage.
- Background in maintenance and/or cleaning is also beneficial.
- Must be willing to obtain a valid First Aid certification, which will be paid for by the company.
- Needs to be self-driven and able to work independently.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities are important.
- Good customer service skills are required.
- Must be focused on achieving goals and completing tasks.
- Should be able to work under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude.
