Job description

About Escargot

Escargot began with greeting cards, but that is only the starting point. The company is creating a new kind of digital-to-physical social network designed to help people keep track of the relationships that matter, notice meaningful moments they might otherwise miss, and turn those moments into physical keepsakes such as cards, gifts, and other mementos.

Where social media often turns into performance and texting becomes the default for everything, Escargot focuses on the items people actually keep — a card on the fridge, a note tucked in a drawer, a ticket stub — and the emotional weight those objects carry. The team is building at the intersection of digital convenience and physical meaning.

Escargot has raised $3M from South Park Commons and Hannah Grey, is used by more than 100,000 people, holds a 4.6 App Store rating, and already has customers framing its cards on their walls. The company is a small New York City team founded by Aaron Albert (CEO) and Andrew Gold (CTO), and the goal is to make Escargot feel much bigger in the world.

Why this role exists

This position is for one person who can generate the idea and then bring it to life. It is not a content calendar job, a brand strategy role, or a deck-heavy planning position. The team needs someone who can look at any channel, come up with the creative concept, and then personally create the output — including shooting, editing, designing, and publishing it.

You will own the content and the creative standard that people see.

What you will do

  • Lead the creative direction for everything Escargot produces
  • Build content from start to finish, including concepting, shooting, editing, and design
  • Make short-form video assets for multiple platforms
  • Develop reusable content formats and creative workflows
  • Guide creators and ensure all output matches your quality expectations
  • Maintain the standard of quality for all published work
  • Partner closely with the founder on voice, tone, and taste
  • Move quickly, test ideas, and improve based on performance

What we are looking for

  • A strong portfolio with real examples of work is required
  • Ability to both develop the concept and execute the final content independently
  • Strong understanding of short-form video platforms such as TikTok and Reels
  • Excellent creative judgment and a refined sense of taste
  • Background creating content for consumer brands or consumer-facing products
  • Comfort working at speed and producing a high volume of output

What will help you succeed here

  • You are both the person with the idea and the person who makes it happen
  • You can handle concepting, shooting, editing, and design on your own
  • You know the difference between content that feels native and content that feels like advertising
  • You prefer testing many ideas and learning quickly over perfecting one piece
  • You can spot when something is not working and adjust it fast

What may make this role a bad fit

  • You need a detailed brief, a large team, or a production-heavy setup before you can create
  • Your main output is strategy or presentations rather than finished creative work
  • You value polish more than speed and learning
  • You are uncomfortable starting from a blank page

Role details

  • This is a full-time, on-site position in New York City
  • The hire will join the founding team
  • The role offers a high level of autonomy with relatively little structure
  • You will report directly to the founder
  • Compensation includes a $100,000 to $150,000 base salary, plus meaningful equity and benefits

Application notes

Applicants should include a portfolio or examples of work they have personally created. The company cares about the actual work rather than a presentation about the work. Escargot is looking to build thoughtfulness into something current, social, and worth talking about, and this role is meant to make that visible.

Additional job application terms

This position is included in a full-service hiring beta program. Applications are limited to candidates who are located in and performing services in the United States, excluding Alaska, Hawaii, Nevada, South Carolina, and West Virginia.

The hiring team aims to keep the process smooth and timely. If you are a strong match, someone from the team should reach out within two weeks to move you forward. If you do not hear back during that period, you are encouraged to consider other opportunities with the team in the future.

Leave it if you'd like a reply — we won't use it for anything else.
