Job description

Role overview

Auckland Council’s Digital team is responsible for helping residents interact with council services through practical, user-centred digital experiences. The team works across a large and varied organisation, bringing together technology, innovation, and public service to improve access, efficiency, and the overall customer experience across Tāmaki Makaurau.

This opening is for a Content Publisher to join the Digital team on a 3-month fixed-term assignment. The role supports an important transformation programme within Customer Experience & Digital Services and focuses on publishing, updating, and maintaining digital content at scale while keeping it accurate, accessible, and aligned with best practice.

What you will do

  • Publish and refresh content across digital channels, including copy, metadata, images, documents, and forms.
  • Handle large volumes of content updates carefully and consistently.
  • Set up and manage pages and components within the content management system.
  • Check and validate content so it meets usability, accessibility, and quality expectations.
  • Contribute to improvements in information architecture and customer journeys.
  • Work with teams across the organisation to deliver consistent, customer-focused results.
  • Respond to requests from the business and provide publishing support across multiple portfolios.

About you

You’ll suit this role if you are proactive, quality-focused, and comfortable working in a busy environment where priorities can change quickly. You should be dependable, detail-oriented, and able to manage a high workload without losing accuracy.

Experience and skills needed

  • Hands-on experience using a content management system.
  • Experience with Adobe Experience Manager, or a similar platform, is preferred.
  • At least 1–2+ years in digital publishing or website content roles.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to juggle competing demands.
  • Working understanding of SEO, information architecture, and basic HTML/web design.
  • Ability to work confidently with stakeholders from both digital and business teams.

What’s on offer

  • The chance to work within a well-established digital team supporting one of the largest government websites in the world.
  • Exposure to a wide range of topics, including licensing, consents, waste, the environment, governance, consultations, and rates.
  • Flexible working arrangements, including some remote work and flexibility in start and finish times.
  • Access to Auckland Council benefits and partner discounts.
  • A workplace committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with accreditation and community pledges that reflect this commitment.

Application and employment details

  • This is a 3-month fixed-term role.
  • You must already have the legal right to work in New Zealand; visa sponsorship is not available.
  • A tailored cover letter is required.
  • If your CV is current, you do not need to repeat your roles in the non-mandatory fields.
  • Applications are due by Sunday 28 June, although the role may be filled sooner because it is urgent and can be closed without notice.
  • For questions about the role or position description, contact [email protected].
  • Salary is between $65,000 and $77,000, depending on your skills and experience.
  • Auckland Council is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applications from people of all backgrounds, including Rainbow communities, disabled people, and neurodivergent people.
  • Support and adjustments are available throughout the recruitment process for anyone who needs them.
