Job description

Role Overview

This position is a full-time, non-management kitchen role based in Ummahat Island 1, Red Sea, Saudi Arabia. The cook is expected to help deliver consistent food quality and presentation standards in line with the kitchen’s recipes and preparation checklists.

Food Preparation and Cooking

The role includes preparing ingredients for cooking by portioning, cutting, and storing them correctly. Duties also involve washing and peeling fresh fruit and vegetables, measuring and mixing ingredients, preparing hot and cold dishes, and operating kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers. The cook must test food to confirm it is thoroughly cooked and monitor quality throughout the preparation process.

Kitchen Hygiene and Safety

Responsibilities extend to setting up and cleaning the food prep area, serving food in the correct containers and portions, and cleaning and sanitizing kitchen areas, tables, utensils, knives, and equipment. The cook must also check that appliances and food temperatures are accurate and comply with company, safety, and security procedures. Any maintenance issues, repairs, accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions must be reported promptly, and required safety training and certifications must be completed.

Work Conduct and Physical Requirements

The position requires maintaining a neat, professional uniform and personal appearance, protecting confidential information, communicating clearly and professionally, and building positive working relationships with team members. The individual should support team goals, listen to colleagues’ concerns, and respond appropriately. The job also involves standing, sitting, walking, bending, twisting, pulling, stooping, reaching above the head and below the knees, and moving, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or placing items weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance.
