About the Role
City University Ajman is seeking a dedicated Counselor to provide comprehensive support to its student body. This role is crucial in fostering student well-being, academic success, personal development, and career readiness. The Counselor will engage in individual and group counseling, deliver workshops, offer career guidance, and collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure a supportive learning environment. The position also involves administrative duties such as maintaining records and ensuring compliance with institutional policies and ethical standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to address students' academic, personal, social, and emotional needs.
- Offer career guidance and advising services to students and recent graduates.
- Address student concerns promptly and facilitate referrals to appropriate internal and external support services.
- Provide support for students with special needs or medical conditions, coordinating with faculty and departments for necessary accommodations.
- Deliver crisis intervention and immediate support during emergency situations.
- Develop and facilitate workshops focused on mental health, well-being, life skills, and career development.
- Create and execute an annual plan for student wellness, skill enhancement, and career preparedness programs.
- Contribute to student engagement through various programs, extracurricular activities, and community events.
- Manage and disseminate content related to counseling and career development across Student Affairs communication channels, including social media.
- Oversee and mentor student leadership groups, such as the Student Council and various committees.
- Provide training in leadership and skill development for student representatives.
- Promote career readiness through targeted workshops, awareness campaigns, and developmental initiatives.
- Collaborate effectively with faculty and staff to enhance student success and retention rates.
- Maintain meticulous and confidential records of student interactions, reports, and case documentation.
- Monitor the effectiveness of student support activities and contribute to continuous service improvement.
- Generate reports and provide recommendations concerning counseling, student development, and career services.
- Ensure adherence to all institutional policies, professional ethical guidelines, and accreditation requirements.
Qualifications and Skills
- Master's degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Human Services, Education, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated experience in counseling, student affairs, career services, or a similar capacity.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation abilities.
- Capacity to manage sensitive information with utmost professionalism and confidentiality.
- Prior experience in facilitating workshops, engaging students, and coordinating events is advantageous.
- Proficiency in English is required, and Arabic language skills are highly desirable.
