Role Overview
The Custodian will be responsible for keeping assigned facilities clean, safe, and orderly. The position plays an important part in maintaining a sanitary, professional environment for employees, visitors, and clients.
Key Duties
- Clean and disinfect restrooms, offices, classrooms, shared spaces, and break areas.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and polish different floor surfaces.
- Remove trash and recyclables and dispose of them correctly.
- Dust furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
- Wash windows, mirrors, and other glass surfaces.
- Replenish supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
- Keep janitorial storage areas and equipment neat, safe, and well organized.
- Use cleaning tools and equipment in a safe and proper manner.
- Follow cleaning schedules, checklists, and required safety procedures.
- Handle chemicals using correct labeling, dilution, and application methods.
- Support event setup and teardown tasks as needed.
- Move, load, unfold, and transport tables, chairs, materials, and related equipment when required.
- Flag maintenance concerns, safety risks, or supply shortages to supervisors.
- Follow all applicable health, safety, and environmental requirements.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Prior custodial or general cleaning experience is an advantage.
- Ability to work on your own and use time efficiently.
- Knowledge of cleaning products, equipment, and safe handling practices.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to cleanliness.
- Dependable, punctual, and professional behavior.
Safety and Physical Requirements
- Ability to repeat tasks for long periods.
- Comfort working with cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent bending, stooping, standing, walking, twisting, and squatting are required.
- Ability to remain standing for six to eight hours per day.
- Good visual and spatial awareness.
- Must follow established safety practices, including requirements related to mobile equipment, PPE, emergency response, HAZCOM, and first aid.
