Role overview

U-Haul is looking for approachable, dependable people who enjoy working with customers and supporting them throughout their rental experience. In this role, you would represent the company in a customer-facing capacity, work closely with a team, and help make sure equipment is inspected, maintained, dispatched, and returned properly. The position includes practical, on-the-job learning.

Key responsibilities

  • Support customers both inside and outside the U-Haul location with products and services.
  • Use smartphone-based U-Scan tools to handle rentals and track inventory.
  • Move U-Haul trucks and trailers and connect them as needed.
  • Clean and inspect lot equipment, including checking fluid levels.
  • Respond to customer questions and explain products and services clearly.
  • Prepare rental paperwork and process equipment returns.
  • Install hitches and trailer wiring.
  • Fill propane cylinders after completing the required certification, which is provided after hiring.
  • Operate a forklift after completing the required certification, which is also provided after hiring.
  • Take on additional tasks as assigned.
  • Continue learning through U-Haul University and other internal training resources.

Requirements

  • A valid driver’s licence with a clean and maintainable driving record.
  • A high school diploma or an equivalent qualification.

Work environment and physical demands

The job may involve moderate hazards or discomforts, including working around moving machinery, fumes, or irritating chemicals. Safety gear such as masks, goggles, gloves, or shields may be required.

The position can require extended periods of staying in one place, walking indoors and outdoors, reaching items at different heights, and handling equipment that weighs at least 50 lbs, with or without assistance.
