Position overview
The Cybersecurity Specialist will lead NIST/CMMC compliance implementation and day-to-day management, while also providing advanced Tier 3 support for both local and remote government contracting and commercial clients. The role is hands-on and involves continuous oversight of cybersecurity tooling, proactive monitoring, and support investigations related to possible incidents. In addition, this person will install, support, and maintain cloud and on-premises networks and applications, including security and office infrastructure such as firewalls, local networks, wireless systems, servers, email, and intranet services.
Key responsibilities
- Drive NIST/CMMC compliance activities and deliver Tier 3 support for GovCon and commercial customers.
- Monitor cybersecurity systems continuously and assist with incident analysis and response.
- Set up, support, and maintain cloud-based and on-premises networks and applications.
- Deploy and administer infrastructure hardware, including firewalls, LAN/WAN, wireless networks, servers, and related office systems.
- Maintain corporate email and intranet platforms.
- Provide remote and onsite technical assistance, incident response, and issue resolution for end users.
- Offer technical guidance and leadership to project teams.
- Deploy, configure, and support cloud-hosted platforms such as Microsoft 365, Azure, and AWS.
- Diagnose application, workflow, and hardware issues, then repair or replace components as needed.
- Evaluate and test new hardware and software setups.
- Produce technical materials such as procedures, reports, research notes, and cost analyses.
- Support on-premises and virtual cloud hardware environments.
- Help manage servers, networks, and hosted applications.
- Assist the Cybersecurity Manager with onboarding new clients through project handoff.
- Communicate clearly with users at all levels and document solutions in knowledge bases and policy materials.
- Maintain DNS records, websites, applications, and content management systems.
- Keep electronic records accurate and current.
- Take part in on-call coverage, including evenings and weekends when needed.
- Travel within the U.S. as required.
- Handle additional duties and special assignments as needed.
Required qualifications

- 3 to 5 years of experience in computer systems support, cloud infrastructure setup and support, network administration, and network installation/configuration.
- Hands-on experience configuring firewalls, VPNs, and Layer 3/4 switches.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and Windows 10/11.
- Experience supporting and deploying Apple/Mac environments.
- Ability to install software, patches, and updates on desktops, laptops, and servers.
- Skill in resolving complex network and systems infrastructure issues.
- Direct experience deploying and supporting client systems.
- Strong phone etiquette and interpersonal skills focused on user satisfaction.
- Experience with Active Directory and Windows Server environments.
- CompTIA Security+ and Network+ certifications are preferred.
- Knowledge of NIST/CMMC compliance is preferred.
Preferred experience
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services.
- Microsoft 365 administration, Intune, and Azure Entra ID (AD).
- Cybersecurity work in a Department of Defense environment.
- CMMC/NIST 800-171 implementation and documentation.
- Experience with SIEM tools.
Additional requirements
- Availability for flexible schedules, including evenings and weekends, to support maintenance and troubleshooting.
