Job description
About Qualitas
Qualitas is an Australian alternative real estate investment manager listed on the ASX. The firm focuses on real estate private credit and real estate private equity, and has spent 18 years helping partners bring their ideas to life while aiming to generate attractive risk-adjusted outcomes for investors.
About the Role
This newly established position sits within the Real Estate Private Equity team, which oversees $1.75 billion of equity invested across direct joint ventures, preferred equity, structured credit, and complex workouts. The role is designed for someone who can deliver strong analytical outputs powered by data and AI, while also helping the team evolve its use of technology over time. It is heavily execution-focused, with roughly 70% of the work centred on delivery and 30% on improving how the team works. From the start, you will be exposed to live investment decisions.
Location and Employment
The role is based in Melbourne and is offered as a permanent, full-time position.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and sustain a wide variety of analytical deliverables, such as dashboards, data pipelines, investor reporting tools, and automated fund reports.
- Use AI-based tools to speed up research, drafting, analysis, and reporting within investment and asset management processes.
- Turn guidance from senior stakeholders into clear, well-defined outputs, while handling several simultaneous projects and meeting demanding deadlines.
- Spot opportunities to automate tasks and improve workflows, and work with the Qualitas AI team on organisation-wide technology initiatives.
- Build expertise in real estate equity, preferred equity, and structured credit over time, supported by structured guidance from Associates and senior investors.
What You Will Need
- Two to three years of experience in a technical field such as software engineering, data analytics, data science, or quantitative research.
- A tertiary qualification in computer science, software engineering, data science, mathematics, statistics, or a similar discipline. Candidates from finance or commerce backgrounds are also welcome if they bring strong technical capability.
- Hands-on experience using AI tools, along with a healthy, critical approach to evaluating their output.
- Working knowledge of version control and proficiency in at least one of the following: Python, SQL, JavaScript, or a BI platform.
- Excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and a product-oriented mindset.
- Prior experience in real estate or financial services is not required.
Additional Information
Qualitas is an equal opportunity employer and values diversity, inclusion, and equity in the workplace. The company is committed to creating an environment where employees are supported to succeed and thrive.
Application Requirements
Applicants are asked to submit a CV together with a short note of around half a page describing a project - professional, academic, or personal - where data or AI tools were used to solve a real-world problem. The note should explain what was built, what was learned, and what could be improved in future.
Diversity Commitment
Candidates from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Selection is based on merit, and the organisation states that it does not discriminate on the basis of age, sex, nationality, race, ethnicity, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, veteran status, marital status, family status, pregnancy, religion, beliefs, neurodiversity, or disability.
