Where you'll work
Job description
About the role
Gravie builds health benefits for small and midsize employers and their people, with a focus on solutions that are genuinely useful. The organization develops and delivers these offerings through a diverse team and encourages candidates to bring their authentic selves to work.
As a Data Analyst, you will support the quantitative and qualitative analysis that helps shape Gravie’s healthcare products and business decisions. This includes work across the company’s level-funded and self-funded health benefits, with a meaningful opportunity to explore Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangements (ICHRAs), an emerging product category changing how employers provide benefits. The role is based in NE Minneapolis and requires being in the office with the team for an average of three days per week. A paid parking spot or metro pass is provided.
What you will do
- Help the business understand performance, identify opportunities, and turn findings into improvements that strengthen health benefits and the healthcare experience.
- Frame and answer key business questions such as what is working well, what should be continued, what should be stopped, and what should be introduced next.
- Own recurring deliverables for multiple business teams by using different tools and methods to create outputs that are accurate, efficient, and dependable.
- Support both quantitative and qualitative analysis used to evaluate, manage, and expand existing and new products across the company.
- Convert complex and simple datasets into clear, practical insights that can be understood by technical and non-technical audiences and used to influence decisions and product direction.
- Help strengthen a company culture that relies on data for decision-making.
- Use quality checks and validation practices to maintain consistency, reliability, and precision in analytical work.
- Contribute to improving the analytics platform by working with cross-functional partners to incorporate data insights into business strategy and product enhancements in a scalable way.
- Work with other analysts to exchange knowledge, share best practices, and support professional growth across the team.
What we are looking for
- A bachelor’s degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Health Informatics, Economics, or a related discipline.
- At least 1 year of experience in data analysis, business analytics, or a similar role.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability, with hands-on experience using real-world datasets.
- The ability to turn data into business value through clear, compelling narratives for stakeholders.
- Comfort with quantitative work and a solid grasp of core mathematical and statistical concepts.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including working with large and complex datasets.
- Experience querying databases with SQL and exploring data through database tools.
- Exposure to Python, R, or another statistical programming language.
- Excellent attention to detail and a track record of accurate, thorough work.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong organization, time management, and responsiveness.
- The ability to work independently with minimal guidance and adapt quickly.
- A willingness to learn and apply new knowledge quickly.
- Alignment with Gravie’s core values: authenticity, curiosity, creativity, empathy, and a results-oriented mindset.
- Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
Nice to have
- Interest in or exposure to health insurance or healthcare.
- Familiarity with industry datasets such as claims or EHR data, or related KPI frameworks.
Compensation and benefits
The annual salary range for this role is $49,500 to $66,000. Compensation is determined using a range of factors, including education, skills, work experience, and certifications.
Gravie offers a benefits package that goes beyond standard health and wellness coverage. It includes alternative medicine coverage, generous PTO, up to 16 weeks of paid parental leave, paid holidays, a 401(k) plan, transportation perks, education reimbursement, and paid paw-ternity leave.
Additional information
