Job description
About GigSafe
GigSafe is creating the operating system of record for credentialed 1099 work. The company supports businesses in tightly regulated, high-stakes sectors by helping them bring independent contractors onboard, verify credentials, and stay compliant throughout the relationship. Its platform brings together onboarding, background screening, insurance checks, credential tracking, training, and contractor payments in one place.
The business is in a strong growth stage and is expanding both its platform and team across every credentialed 1099 vertical. As the company scales, it is investing in the data foundations and analytical capability needed to make better decisions across the organization.
Role Overview
GigSafe is hiring a Data Analyst to take a hands-on role in the data and analytics work that supports day-to-day operations. This person will own the data stack from end to end, including building pipelines and turning raw information into insights that guide business decisions.
There is no established data team yet, so this will be the first dedicated hire in the function. The role will help shape what the analytics function looks like moving forward.
This position offers significant ownership from the start. You will help define the problems, build the underlying infrastructure, and deliver insights in a fast-moving, high-growth environment. The role involves close collaboration with engineering, operations, sales, and product teams.
What You’ll Do
- Create and support reliable, scalable data pipelines that keep reporting accurate as the company grows.
- Use Python and SQL to pull, transform, and analyze data from the operator and worker platforms.
- Work with engineering to add instrumentation for new features so the right data is captured from the beginning.
- Turn analysis into practical decisions that teams can act on, while helping build the data base needed for AI tools at scale.
- Help frame the right business questions as well as answer them; the role requires strong judgment, not only technical execution.
- Develop a trustworthy data layer that can support future AI tooling and analytics use cases.
What We’re Looking For
- 3 to 5 years of professional experience.
- Strong working knowledge of Python, SQL, and Jupyter notebooks, with a focus on delivering analyses rather than presentations about them.
- Prior experience building or maintaining data pipelines, along with an understanding of common failure points.
- Deep interest in business context and the ability to understand operators, workers, and unit economics well enough to ask meaningful questions.
- Motivation to help other teams succeed by sharing insights that improve decisions for operations, sales, and product.
- Comfort working in ambiguity and defining problems as part of the job.
- Excellent attention to detail, good organization, and the ability to juggle competing priorities without missing deadlines.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex findings in simple language to non-technical audiences.
- Comfort using AI tools while understanding where their limits are.
Nice to Have
- Experience in gig economy, marketplace, or last-mile delivery environments.
- Background in an early-stage or fast-scaling startup where structure was limited.
- Experience working closely with operations or non-technical users, with good empathy for dispatchers, drivers, and operators.
Location
This role is based in Austin, Texas, and applicants should either already be in the area or be open to relocating.
Benefits
- Health, dental, and vision coverage for employees and dependents.
- Unlimited paid time off, along with company-paid holidays.
- Competitive base pay with the potential for performance-based bonuses.
- 401(k) retirement savings plan.
- Stock options that give employees a real stake in the company’s growth.
- Paid parental leave for all new parents.
