Role Overview
This contract opportunity is for a Data Analyst II based in Charlotte, NC, supporting a major power and utilities organization. The assignment is expected to run for 12 months, with a possibility of being extended.
Compensation and Contract Details
The pay range for this role is $47.00 to $52.00 per hour on a W2 contract basis. The position does not include PTO or benefits. An ACA-compliant supplemental package is available for those who enroll. Candidates must already have legal authorization to work in the United States and must be able to work on a Primary Talent Partners W2 without sponsorship.
What the Role Involves
The position centers on building, improving, and maintaining reporting, dashboard, and data warehouse solutions that help the Power Grid Operations team make informed decisions. Work will involve tools such as Power BI and SSRS, along with supporting broader analytics and data infrastructure needs.
Responsibilities
- Work effectively with teammates and internal stakeholders through clear communication.
- Partner with business users to define and refine solution requirements.
- Write SQL queries for Oracle or SQL Server environments.
- Create code using DAX or MDX.
- Build and maintain Power Automate workflows.
- Develop and support Power Apps solutions.
- Create medium to complex reporting solutions using Power BI Service, Power BI Paginated Reports, or SQL Server Reporting Services.
- Query tabular or multidimensional models in Power BI or SQL Server Analysis Services.
- Collaborate with groups such as Finance, Project Management, Lighting, and Resource Management to deliver solutions.
- Work with Information Technology teams to manage and coordinate requests.
- Approach complex business issues in a structured and systematic way.
- Apply project management basics to help move initiatives to completion.
- Use strong data warehousing knowledge to support solution design.
- Document data warehouses to enable cross-training and knowledge sharing.
- Leverage existing reporting warehouses, or build local warehouses when needed, to support solution development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Comfort with Agile concepts and practices.
- Exposure to Python programming.
- Experience with Power BI Dataflows.
- Background in analyzing metrics and performance data.
- Skill with advanced Excel functions such as pivot tables and VLOOKUP.
- Knowledge of database design, table and view creation, or stored procedure writing.
- Experience using Teams and SharePoint.
- Experience creating and maintaining tabular models and cubes in Power BI or SSAS.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting ability.
