Job description

About the role

We are looking for a Data Analyst to help project teams with analysis, reconciliation, profiling, and migration work across complex data landscapes. The role focuses on creating repeatable analyses, reconciliation outputs, profiled datasets, and clear insights that enable Data Architects, Business Analysts, and other stakeholders to make sound decisions.

This is a practical, hands-on role where you will partner with Data Architects, DBAs, source-system subject matter experts, and project teams. Your work will span data quality, reconciliation, investigative analysis, and migration support across multiple systems and datasets. You will help surface issues, verify results, and provide the evidence needed for successful project delivery.

What you should bring

  • Hands-on experience using query languages to explore and analyse data.
  • Background working in scripting or analytical environments to investigate complex data issues.
  • Comfort working with different data access approaches, including databases, APIs, reporting extracts, and vendor tools.
  • Experience partnering with DBAs to secure access, understand schemas, and work within operational limits.
  • Ability to work with source-system SMEs to interpret fields, understand business meaning, and spot historical data artefacts.
  • Strong understanding of source-system structures, entities, data volumes, distributions, and irregularities.
  • Experience reconciling data across multiple source systems and identifying relevant differences.
  • Solid background in data profiling across completeness, accuracy, consistency, timeliness, and conformity.
  • Ability to investigate data issues and present findings that can guide action.
  • Experience producing documentation and repeatable outputs that can be rerun and checked.
  • Exposure to migration and cutover work, including extracts, validation, and reconciliation reporting.
  • Confidence working with messy operational data, such as inconsistently used fields, free text, and legacy production artefacts.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability with a focus on spotting meaningful patterns and exceptions.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

  • Carry out detailed data analysis to support project teams and wider enterprise work.
  • Develop repeatable analyses, reconciliation outputs, and profiled datasets for stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with DBAs and source-system SMEs to understand structures, schemas, and business context.
  • Review source datasets to identify entities, distributions, populated fields, gaps, and anomalies.
  • Reconcile data across multiple systems and communicate findings that support decision-making.
  • Evaluate data quality across completeness, accuracy, consistency, timeliness, and conformity.
  • Design and run investigative analyses in response to questions from architects, business analysts, and project leads.
  • Prepare findings, reports, and documentation that help stakeholders move work forward.
  • Document analytical processes so outputs remain reproducible and verifiable over time.
  • Support migration and cutover activities through extracts, validation reporting, and reconciliation processes.
  • Perform both pre-cutover and post-cutover analysis and reporting.
  • Spot migration-related data issues early and escalate them to support delivery.
  • Work with complex and messy operational data, offering practical analysis and recommendations.
  • Contribute to project documentation and preserve knowledge that can support future analysis work.
  • Build strong working relationships with project teams, stakeholders, and subject matter experts.

Benefits

  • Work directly with Data Architects, Business Analysts, and project teams on high-impact data initiatives.
  • Gain exposure to data profiling, reconciliation, migration support, and investigative analysis.
  • Join a collaborative environment that values evidence-based insight and successful project delivery.
