Job description

Overview

This position sits within Digital Forensic Services Analytics / Corporate Security and supports the bank’s global objectives through data-driven investigations, fraud detection, and risk reduction. The role operates in a regulated environment and requires close alignment with internal policies, procedures, and applicable laws.

What you will do

  • Promote a client-centric approach that strengthens relationships and makes better use of the bank’s systems, knowledge, and wider network.
  • Help shape and roll out the enterprise insider threat program, behavioral analytics capabilities, and future modelling initiatives that support investigations and mitigation of criminal activity and risk.
  • Build and refine predictive models and pattern-detection logic in Splunk to surface suspicious fraud activity and abnormal user behavior.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and improve complex SPL search queries, and develop Splunk use cases for financial crime, employee monitoring, threat intelligence, online banking, and PCI/PII scenarios.
  • Support the upkeep of the enterprise insider threat intelligence program and digital fraud investigation workflows by creating or updating Splunk data models, alerts, rules, and dashboards that deliver actionable near real-time intelligence.
  • Review large datasets and investigation outputs to generate insights that support major digital fraud, financial crime, and broader analytics initiatives.
  • Stay current on insider threat methods, fraud patterns, investigative approaches, and regulatory changes, and assess how those developments may affect the organization.
  • Work closely with technology and business partners to identify opportunities for new analytics initiatives, development efforts, and risk controls.
  • Apply the bank’s risk appetite and risk culture in daily decisions and work practices.
  • Operate efficiently and in line with the organization’s values, code of conduct, sales principles, and control environment, including obligations related to operational risk, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk.
  • Contribute to a high-performance, inclusive team culture.

What you need

  • A post-secondary degree in a relevant STEM field such as Computer Science, Electrical/Computer/Software Engineering, or Statistics/Mathematics, or at least 2 years of comparable hands-on experience.
  • Practical experience in an analytics role using Splunk SPL to create dashboards, rules, algorithms, and alerts, ideally focused on behavioral analytics and digital fraud.
  • Exposure to analytical and computing platforms such as Splunk, Power BI, SAS, Java, R, Python, Hadoop, HIVE, and Spark.
  • Splunk Enterprise Version 7.x and 8.x training or certification, along with data analytics certification, would be beneficial.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to present findings clearly.
  • Strong analytical thinking, creative problem-solving, and the ability to gather, organize, assess, and present data accurately and with attention to detail.
  • Self-driven, proactive, energetic, and focused on delivering results and business value.
  • Knowledge of fraud trends, as well as fraud detection and prevention experience, is considered an advantage.
