Where you'll work

Job description

Role overview

Our client, a major player in financial services, is in the middle of an ambitious technology transformation. As the Data Analytics Lead, you will play a key role in defining the direction of their analytics capability and helping build a modern, enablement-focused function.

The team is creating a foundation built on trusted enterprise data, governed analytics, safe AI enablement, and self-service capabilities for the wider business. In this role, you will own the layer that links the data platform to real-world business decisions.

What you will do

  • Lead analytics engineering, BI, or data insights delivery within an enablement-first operating model rather than a centralized reporting structure.
  • Design and manage the semantic and metric layer, including dbt-style modelling or a comparable approach.
  • Set up and run a certified dataset programme, ensuring trusted datasets are aligned to specific decision-making needs and have clear ownership.
  • Own Power BI practices across modelling, performance, governance, and standards.
  • Create and enforce BI standards that can be adopted consistently across teams.
  • Work confidently with SQL and use Python where analytics work requires it.
  • Deliver data literacy initiatives and help build a strong community of practice.
  • Partner with stakeholders to turn business priorities into useful data products while also pushing back on requests that should remain decentralized.
  • Coach and advise teams to increase adoption, confidence, and long-term capability.

Skills and experience required

  • Background leading analytics engineering, BI, or data insights in an enablement-led environment.
  • Practical experience building semantic and metric layers.
  • Experience with trusted or certified dataset frameworks tied to business decisions.
  • Advanced Power BI knowledge, including modelling, performance tuning, governance, and standards.
  • Strong SQL ability and working familiarity with Python for analytical tasks.
  • Experience running data literacy programmes or communities of practice.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to influence, coach, and guide teams across the business.

Nice to have

  • Exposure to Azure Databricks SQL and lakehouse analytics approaches.
  • Experience with AI-supported insight generation or AI design review.
