About the role

Propio Language Services builds technology that helps organizations communicate more effectively with people who have limited English proficiency, supporting better access across healthcare and other essential services such as social services, education, and legal support.

As a Data Engineer II, you will help shape, build, and support the company’s data foundation. This role combines hands-on engineering, problem-solving, and partnership with teams across the business to enable smarter, data-led decisions.

What you will do

  • Create, refine, and support data pipelines so data can be processed and analyzed efficiently.
  • Build and maintain ETL workflows that keep information accurate and readily available.
  • Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and other partners to understand data needs and deliver the right solutions.
  • Make sure data platforms remain scalable, dependable, and high-performing.
  • Put in place and uphold data security and privacy controls.
  • Investigate and fix data issues, inconsistencies, and anomalies.
  • Improve data engineering practices over time and keep documentation current.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable advisor on data initiatives and help ensure they support business goals.
  • Perform ad hoc analysis and reporting to address immediate business needs.
  • Write and tune advanced SQL queries and stored procedures for data extraction and data modeling.
  • Develop custom automated paginated reports using SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services).

What we are looking for

We are seeking someone with a strong technical foundation, analytical thinking, and the ability to collaborate across teams. The role calls for experience in data engineering, cloud services, SQL, programming, and modern data platforms.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related discipline, or an equivalent amount of work experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a similar data engineering position.
  • Hands-on experience building and supporting scalable data pipelines and ETL workflows.
  • Exposure to cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, including their data services.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
  • Solid programming ability in languages like Python or Scala.
  • Experience with large-scale data technologies such as Hadoop and Spark.
  • Familiarity with data warehousing platforms, including Databricks.
  • Understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and data lake concepts.
